Questions about reaction to Doxycycline

Body

Hi all,

I came to this site because I suspect I might have a brain infection. It sure would explain a lot, at least.

So I decided to try Doxycycline. Two things happened.

First, only a single 100 mg dose makes the ringing in my head/right ear almost unbearably worse.

Second, one or two days after my throat gets a little sore. Then it goes away in a day or two.

I've tried this two times, with the same result.

So, now I have two questions:

1. Could the sore throat indicate that I indeed have an infection?

Comments

Not being a doctor, I can't say, but if the same ting happens in exactly the same way, each time you try, it must indicate something, although t might just be that you are rather sensitive to taking doxycycline. An all out allergy would be much worse but maybe you would be better seeing a doctor.

Completed Stratton/Wheldon regime for aggressive secondary progressive MS in June 2007, after four years, three of which intermittent.   Still improving bit by bit and no relapses since finishing treatment.

Thanks for your reply Sarah. Of course you are right. Sadly, I have not yet found a doctor that seems to have a clue as to what's going on with me :(
