Title

Zhang protocol/Wahls diet causing horrible symptoms 2 months in

Body

I have been on the Zhang Clinic protol - it is a brosad spectrum pathogen treatment. I am also following the Terry Wahls diet - but withing Zhang guidelines, no cold or raw food except fruit.  I'm 2 months in treatment. Treathing CFS - sick for 20 yearsI am experiencing symptoms of severe head pain, confusion and burning nerve pain. I have actually had to pause treatment a few times which is surprising to me. The head pain and confusion symptoms are exactly the same as when I was on antiobiotics for CAP and had to stop.

Comments

I've no idea what the Zhang protocol might be. I do know three months on CAP is rarely long enough to see significant improvement. I'm hesitant to suggest anything, but I will say biotin improves my eyesight and I notice a decline when I don't take it.

I hadn't heard of the Zhang protocol either, so I looked it up and I still don't know much: the Chinese herbs used are all well and good, but what about the HH capsule, Coptis (apparently another broad spectrum antimicrobial!) and R-5081?  Unless you know exactly what is in these, any one of them could be causing the headaches. Another thought: how far were you into CAP before you had to stop?  How many pulses did you do?  Maybe you just stopped too soon..................Sarah

Sarah,I made CAP only 3 months with one 5 day pulse of Metro. I had to stop because of double vision, confusion and head pain. I felt like I was being poisenedThe Zhang herbs I were taking were Allicin, Artemisa and Coptis.I tested positive for CPN but Lyme and CPN symptoms are similar. I noticed no sinus congestion with the NAC test.

Tom, I think you would benefit from reading David's site again: http://www.davidwheldon.co.uk/ms-treatment.htmlIt says both there and on the guidelines for treatment on this site that some people may find they need to build up to the full dose gradually and need to leave longer than three months before they start pulsing.  Also very few people start straight off doing a full five day pulse.  You are going to tell me next that you did it on full dose!  Some people, like me, find no trouble in taking medication.  Also, I did have the most awful prognosis hanging over my head and the most awful neurologist who suggested to David that the time had come to look for a nursing home where I could live out my last few years. You say you tested positive for Cpn.  Did you test positive for lyme?  As you say, some of the symptoms are similar, but your Cpn reading was higher than mine.  Also, I had no sinus congestion on starting NAC, just like you.........................Sarah

Sara, I read David's site before CAP, but unfortunately I rushed the treatment and pulsed 5 days of Metro the third month - and ended up in the ER 2 weeks later from confusion and head pain. I also got stuck in a fight or flight anxiety response - my body interprets the symptoms from treatment as trauma.I tested negative for Lyme. I do have moderate nueropathy in my legs. My brain MRI only shows a few tiny foci of T2 hyperintensity in the white matter - the report states is not significant.Sara, I saw both you and David on the MS Cure feature. You have made a remarkable recovery. David's remarks on the nuerologist not wanting to see the MRI scans were shocking.

And I will always say what I always say:  the only way to get through this is to do it come hell or high water -  and they both come.  However, it doesn't last forever (just seems that way).  When it is over - it is pretyy wonderful, and keeps getting better for years.  Rica
