Yeast Infection

Body

Help!  I think I am getting a yeast infection.  I am only taking doxy (200mg) per day and I am already on diflucan.  Is there anything else I can do??  I have already been a limited sugar and carb diet.  Thanks.

Hi, Pepper... from your registration it appears you started CAP on 12/15/08??? What symptoms are you having that makes you think you have yeast infection so soon?

Hi Jeanneroz,

I forgot to add I am taking probiotics too.  My symptoms are burning and white discharge.  I was on a different antibiotic prior to doxy (unrelated to CPn treatment).

Sounds like yeast for sure.  Diflucan should help.  You can also get the suppositories from your doc for the yeast infection medicine and use both.  Also, boric acid suppositories help.  A pharmacy has to make them for you but you need a script for them.  Then use them every day, every other day to keep yeast away.

Pepper, in addition to Diflucan, I use Olive Leaf Extract for yeast.
Need to take it every day. I make a cup of licorice tea and add a whole dropper full of Olive Leaf Extract. You can also take Oregano Oil capsules too. Make sure you are not allergic to any of this.

Feeling 98% well-going for 100. Very low test for Cpn. CAP since 8-05 for Cpn/Mycoplasma P.,Lyme, Bartonella, Mold exposure,NAC,BHRT, MethyB12 FIR Sauna. 1-18-11 begin new treatment plan with naturopath

Thanks Lynn.  I will see about getting suppositories.  Right now it is managable, but i am afraid it may get worse.

Thanks Raven.  Do you (or anyone else) know if grapeseed extract works as well?   Also, is it ok to take them with the antibiotic or should I wait a few hours?

Hi Pepper,
You can use it mixed with water as a douche---I highly recommend it!

I suggest you go and see your doctor, a yeast infection so early on in your treatment suggests a pre-existing yeast overgrowth, some people are more prone to these kinds of infection than others...  On the other hand if you are already taking diflucan (how long have you been taking it?)  it could be something else... Does it smell, Candida usually smells sour like yogurt, if it smells like onion it could be bacterial, I had bacterial vaginosis once which produced a white discharge and some soreness when peeing and redness in the area.  I found this site informative.

Here are a couple of links to pages on this website that comment on yeast infections and supply information about various antifungals.  Please be careful with some of these supplements (as indicated in the chart) if you have IBS or any gut issues apart from yeast.

Thanks for the info. Michele.  I will read those links.  I do have a preexisting yeast problem which I have not been able to get rid of with the use of antifungals, diet and supplements.  It has been several months that I have been treating it with antifungals.  I usually always have a problem with thrush when starting antibiotics.  It doesn't smell.  It is just a little tender, red and sore and I worry it may get worse.

Thanks Raven.

Pepper, I wasn't sure which "type" of yeast you were referring to, but I agree that it does sound like that's what you have.

I also experienced this problem several months ago.  My gyn wanted me to take clindomyicin (sp) but I didn't take it as I was afraid it would hit me like a pulse, even though it was a vaginal suppository it was absorbed into the body at a high rate and lasted for several days.

My personal experiences with vaginal yeast infections --  I  have used tea tree oil suppositories and they have worked fine for me.

I hope you find relief as it is miserable..
