What is methlyation?
Could someone please explain methylation? What is the methylation cycle? What do the supplements consist of and finally where does one do testing/analysis?
Thanks

Perhaps you could start by reading here and also here. Supplement costs would depend on where you purchase them.
Also, this is an interesting paragraph from here :
- "Chronic bacterial infectionsi should be addressed. According to Dr. Yasko, females in particular appear to be prone to streptococcal infections. She also finds that aluminum appears to be associated with the bacteria, so that when the bacteria die off, aluminum is excreted. While antibioticsi can be used, there are downsides to this, both in terms of difficulty in detoxing some of the antibiotics and in terms of killing beneficial intestinal flora and encouraging deleterious ones, such as Clostridia dificile. In addition, some CFS patients have experienced tendon problems from the fluoroquinolone antibiotics. Dr. Yasko prefers natural antimicrobial treatments."

I'm not clear on what exactly Methylation therapy is, but my understanding is that our bodies have toxins that need to be eradicated but are missing the proper nutrients to do this. It is the toxin level that depletes the body's immunei system permitting pathogens to infiltrate it.
A man named Rich Van Konynenburg has written extensively on this topic. He too is a PhD who has a simple protocol. There are extensive postings by him on the ProHealth web site.
Here is link to one thread which includes the testing lab he recommends in NJ. Also, for those in Europe, a google search for Vitamin Diagnostics Lab will bring up sites that list world-wide testing labs.

Your doctor’s office will need to contact the lab to order the blood test kit (it’s just one or two vials), and they will send the kit to your doctor’s office. One of the doctors at the lab called my doctor with a personalized treatment plan based on my results. Here’s the contact info:
From what I remember, it cost $200-$300, and my insurance did not cover it.
Hope this helps.
ME. HHV-6, EBVi, CpNi, EV. Valcyte (9mo.'07-'08). 4gr Valtrex (since Nov '08). 2400mg NACi + 200mg Doxyi 8/08; added 250mg Azith 12/08; 1st Flagyli pulse 2/09. 6K Vit D.
Ahh ok, this is pretty cool stuff. Thank you, both of you. What a handful to actually understand where all these listed plugins fit into the body. Its a whole new unknown chapter on advanced detoxification and the road to recovery. Expensive I assume. I'll get there eventually. Adding it to my list.
Thanks again jeanne and V-free

Norman whats this and where do i find this info
"in porphyriaii, antibodies get made to porphyrins, and some of them cross-react with B12 and diminish the usable amount of B12; thus his recommendation of high-dose B12 supplementation.
Why do porpherin antibodies cross react with B12? And if this is so, would it affect the results of b12 testing.
Thanks

Clammed up, my understanding is that the protocol itself is not expensive, it's a handful of supplementsi. However, i would not know since i have not committed to it.
A CpNi MD started me with what appears to be a combination of Dr. Yasko and Dr. VanK's protocolsi. I didn't like the concept of putting numerous supplementsi in my body without first knowing how it reacts to each one. I found some of them made me manic - Ioderol, of which many patients have reported positive feedback, and the Nitro patch, used by heart patients, which also made me unable to sleep. So I doubt i have a 'block', and at this time i am pursuing anti-viral protocols in conjunction with CAPi.
Many patients with heavy metals use Rich VanK's protocol.
Good luck to you.

When you get measured your B12 levels it may be reported as within normal limits, but this doesn't mean that your cells can easily use it. Infact ıf you are cpni infected and if you have huge amounths of antibodies, your B12 would be covered by these antibodies and your cells could't use it anymore. But there are ways for measuring your real B12 status.
1)You can look at your homosistein level( a neurotoxin and cardiotoxin also-it give damage to connective tissue). It's level is elevated during B12,folic asit or pyridoxin deficiency. B12 and folic asit act as cofactor for conversion of homocystein to methionin, and pyridoxin act as cofactor for conversion of it to cystein.
If homosistein is normal that is not certainly mean that your B12 is normal, because folic asit and pyridoxin might have normalized it even if you are B12 deficient. So you need a more reliable test
2)You can look at your methyl malonate levels which is a better indicator of B12 deficiency. B12 convert methyl malonyl coA to succinyl coA, so if you have high metil malonate levels that means you are B12 deficient with %99 possiblity.

Thanks for the info everyone. It would be so nice if i had the finances to do the things i need to do to get better such as this, but at least its good the have the information and understand it.

Thanks Yimaz for taking the time to type explainations. Sam-e has been extremely helpful in supporting my energy level for daily activities. The brand I purchase sends along a free bottle of B-complex 50 mg strength. I take Methycobalamin 5000IU/day as well, but not all the forms of B-12 that I believe are suggested I think there were three, I do take some cyanocobalomin in liposmal spray for right now too.
This is my attempt at the modified Yasko protocol without ordering the specifically suggested brands at the added expense. Oh, I take added biotin, I had the bottle from a past supplementation several years ago. I may be missing something perhaps. Louise
