"Be sure to eat a lot of spinach with your vitamin D. To work properly, Vitamin D needs magnesium, vitamin K, zinc and probably boron."  Just one of the pearls I found in reading this March 2009 Issue of the Vitamin D Council Newsletter.  Louise

Hi Louise,

Loved it!   Many of the emails and answers are quite telling...

And I stand corrected on the Vit D and washing with soap and water after sunbathing thing!  However, I still doubt it is going to make a huge difference.   It's bad enough I bring up vitamin d3 at cocktail party conversations.   If I was all smelly from not showering daily, I'd be a complete social outcast (well, even more of one!)...

Dr Cannell is actually a hoot.   I love his please unsubscribe if you're offended by the product endorsements attitude...

Thanks again!

Thanks for highlighting that Louise - magnesium is probably the supplement that I forget most often.  Learning this about it should help motivate me to fix that problem.

Diagnosed FMS Feb '07.  2x/day: 600 mg NAC, 100 mg Doxy, 500 mg Amoxicillin, 2000 iu Vit. D.  450 mg Valcyte.  250 mg Azi M/W/F.  500 mg 375 mg Flagyl pulses every 3-4 weeks.  Started CAP June '07.

Mack, thanks - I somehow missed your post.  Image removed.  And I'm not on a blood thinner so I should be good, there.  But is there anything to replace the spinach?  Probably not would be my guess.. I like it but generally just don't buy it or eat it very much.

Kelly, You'd have to check with a doctor or pharmacist. My mom takes blood thinners and has been specifically warned to avoid all dark green vegetables, except in the very smallest of quantities. Her doctor said a forkful is okay, a full serving is not.

I take a calcium product that I purchase at Costco which contains most of these co-nutrients.  Maybe this is why I was able to REVERSE my osteopenia almost completely within 6 months time!

I take 4 of THESE a day along with an added 1,000 ius of D for a total of 2600 ius D.

NAC 2.4g, Zith 250mg/MWF, mino 200mg, Tini 5day/1g/5 pulses, ValcyteSupplements, CFIDS/FMS, Hashimoto's, Psoriasis, PA, IBS, Sec Addisons Don't believe everything you think!

KellyAna, Possilbly supplements of vitamin K-2 500mcg and Vit K-1 100mcg.

Google and let me know what you find.   FibroandFatigue.com has a supplement combo with it called Bone Health you need to take 6 capsules per day to get the dosage that I mention above.  I contains Boron Citrate 3mg VitD3 3000IU, mag Oxide 500mg, Managanese sulfate 5 mg,  Strontium Carbonate 1000mg, Silica 200mcg, Calcium Carbonate 1000mg.

Aso you could investigate Swiss Chard in comparison to Spinach it is a dark green leafy.  Dark green leafy veggies  would have more Vit K, Spinach is king yet has some other components that some folks might not want.  I am a little cloudy on those details so won't speak to it.
