Vitamin D3 and its Effects on Matrix Metalloproteinase (MMP) Production

 

Matrix Metalloproteinases (MMPs) have a variety of destructive effects and have been found to be upregulated during Chlamydia pneumoniae infection.   Vitamin D3, importantly has been shown to play an important role in regulating MMP production.
