Vitamin D2

My lab results show:

25-OH, D3 ... 38 ng/mL

That's the one my doc pays attention to. But I just noticed lower down on the sheet it says:

25-OH, D2 ... <4 ng/mL

Does this have any significance? What does it mean?

Hi Sunnivara,

The short answer is no.  It does not really have any significance for you by the results you've posted.

Here's an answer to Clive's question along the same lines that should help answer what D2 readings mean:

Although I'm no expert, as your doctor says, just ignore the D2 reading as it is insignificant.   If you were taking D2 supplements, it would be much higher.   Since you are presumably taking Vit D3 supplements the D2 reading should remain low and this is okay. You wouldn't probably want them both to be very high range, however.   It might lead to Vit D toxicity...

Hope this helps.  Hang in there!
