Cryptic form

Under stringent conditions, RB's in the cell can transform for survival into an low-metabolizing and non-replicating form which is not killed by regular antibiotics.

Flagyl/Metronidazole v/s Tindamax/Tinidazole - Info Hub

Kim's just starting her December 2009 pulse and she's "Out the Gate Early".  Meaning, Flagyl "fun" started up on day-1 of the pulse.  I've read that folks on Tini have less of this and I came here today to think about it.  First here's a couple links to RxList:

Flagyl (Metronidazole) and Tindamax (Tinidazole)

I thought it was interesting that both of them had peripheral neuropathy listed as side effects.

Being a good cpnhelp'er I did a search and here are links I found:

Soem cryptic never change back?

Does the the cryptic load accumulates over time. I had an image of all the bacteria changing from L-Form -> Cryptic then all from Cryptic -> L-Form. From what I've experienced I'm thinking that everytime the bacteria shift to Cryptic that not all of them shift back to L-Form when the conditions warrant. This could explain why some people need many many rounds of Flagyli/Tinii to eraditate this form and someneed much less.

Pulse #12 Culminated with an ER Visit

For my records here….. I started pulse #12 on Sunday, October 4th.  I have been tolerating my pulses (for the most part) decently.   The first 2 days the left side of my head felt clogged with cement.  My left ear, eye, lymph nodes, sinus were painful.  Right knee painful.   Total inability to concentrate... first 3 days I felt as if I were in "suspended animation" and all I really did was “zone out” and stay in the house.

My new dr

My previous LLMD who was my CAPi prescriber moved out of state and I transitioned to another dr in the same practice group. Yesterday was my first appt. I was a bit apprehensive to change the dr but I am happy now I must say.

My new dr has a different approach to the disease in terms of that he treats whole body. If my previous provider just gave me CAP rx, this dr wants to address all my conditions - hypoT, hypertension, nutritional issues, wants to check heavy metals as well. He even asked if I have a ObGyn and do regular pap smears.

Flagyl interactions with tetracyclines?

Below is a small paragraph from Lyme disease dxi/tx guidelines of Dr. Burrascano that struck me as I was reading, anyone heard of Flagyli/tetracycline interactions?

Intermittant Protocol

Intermittant Thereapy~~~ There recently have been quite a few who have gone to intermittant therapy (hurray!).  I know in recent discussions comments are made "to refer back to their individual posts" to see what that consists of.  It is difficult sometimes to query this site for such specific information re each member.

Metronidazole(Flagyl) comparison to TInidazole(Tindamax)

Chanced upon this older thread started in June2006  I am bumping it up; http://www.cpnhelp.org/flagylvstinidazole for reference and the original thread in context.

I am extracting a post that is very interesting to me and my situation.  Hope that some others may find it an interesting read as well.  Louise

Can bacterial cryptic form develop resistance to Flagyl?

Yesterday I took my first Flagyli 250 mg, no reaction. Today took 2 x 250 mg and started to wonder, is it possible to develop resistance to Flagyl if taken in small doses? I'll be increasing the dose in future pulses if tolerated. My dr wants me to take 500 mg x 2/day for 14 days a month eventually.

Cryptic / Persistent / Plasmid - Phase / State / Form

I'm trying to find a journal article or other authoritative source that explains the cryptic/third state (what it's called here at CPnhelp) of CPn.  I've found that there are a lot of kinds of chlamydia and there's little out there about cryptic state.  There is stuff called plasmid, but I can't tell what that is.

My frustration is in that there are plenty of discussions of Elementary Bodies and Reticular Bodies and lots of diagrams and info on these.  But, there is very little on Cryptic and I'd like to be able to show this to others with the supporting literature.

Here's the best links I can find right now, but they are not really about Cryptic Cpn.

Backsliding...

I am in a quandry.  I am concerned I may be developing a resistance to doxyi and/or azith, is that possible? Or could it just be time for me to mix it up?

I am again very ill with severe bronchitis and/or cpni pneumoniae symptoms.  I am almost physically at the point I was in March of 2007 when I was first diagnosed (bed ridden, chest pain, deep bronchial coughing, very weak)  This is about the 3rd episode over the last 6 months (2nd within the past 2 months!)

In all honesty my improvements over the past year haven't been significant, other than a reduction in brain fog and a reduction in my FM symptoms.  As each month passes I keep adding to the mix..... I KNOW that is part of this process -- it just becomes more obvious how infected I must be.

What Metronidazole does

Does metronidazole actually kill the cystic form of Cpni, or deos it open up the cysts for the other abxi to do the killing, as happens with Lyme treatment?

No Fun being in OZ

My mobility is becoming worse and I am also having neuropathy-type foot drag -- occasionally the  toes on my right foot fold over and I don't feel them right away until I've scraped them on the floor or stairs! And my feet, (even though I  think they are "up") aren't and I trip... I am unsteady.  My husband is constantly having to steady me and help me maneuver on the occasions we leave the house or he pushes me in a transport chair.

These are NEW symptoms which have developed over the last two pulses.   I have had problems with my right knee since the beginning of capi but these symptoms are different. My left knee and leg are now affected.
