Antibiotics to be available without prescription

This is the news:  In England, possible antibioticsi to be sold over the counter, to treat CHLAMYDIA!

This is the story form http://www.guardian.co.uk/society/2008/aug/06/health

Oral antibiotics are to be made available for the first time without doctor's prescription under guidelines approved yesterday by the medicines regulator.

A pill to treat chlamydia, the most commonly diagnosed sexually transmitted infection, will become available for purchase in pharmacies across England later this year.

Newbie

Hi, my name is Claudia and I was diagnosed with RAi several years ago.  After doing some research and finding out about the connection between certain autoimune diseasesi and  bacterial infections , I decided to get tested for Cpni-which tested positive.  I am a little scared about taking so many antibioticsi, but I guess if this treatment works, then it's worth it!  I would like to know if you guys have a list of doctors who provide this treatment around the Miami, FL area.  Any help would be appreciated.

Embarking on CAP - what do you think of this protocol?

Last Fri I saw my new dr who is an integrative MD specializing in Lyme. Very nice, compassionate and down to earth person. The appt was early morning when I am not yet in my best shape. I was so exhausted and brained fogged, my BP was soaring 170/110 so that my hubby had to drive me over and was a big support at the dr's office as well.

What Is A Chronic Illness, Anyway?

What Is A Chronic Illness, Anyway?

A chronic illness is a disease or disorder that a person has to cope with on a continuous basis. Many people become so ill, they are unable to work and are forced to give up activities they have always enjoyed. Often their  illness goes undiagnosed for years, leaving thousands of people frustrated, depressed and without answers to why their bodies will not cooperate with their desires.

Antibiotic Protocol - Rheumatologist Annual Meeting

The Road Back Foundation is exhibiting again at the American College of Rheumatology's annual meeting in November in Boston. After the meeting, on Sunday, November 11th from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm, a number of Road Back volunteers will be gathering to brain storm about the work of the Foundation. If you are interested in participating (i.e., have some skill and time to contribute to the Foundation), there are two spots open. If interested, please send a brief bio and your experience with AP treatment/the Foundation to info@roadback.org

Multiple Symptoms, here is my diatribe!!  I am new to the site & I have Fibromyalgia-FMSi, Chronic Fatigue Immunei Deficiency-CFIDSi/Myalgic Encephalomyelitisi- ME with the usual cornucopia of underlying symptoms, crashes, flu like symptoms, migraines including CPNi, Babesia & recently hereditary Hemochromatosis.

At the End of January

It seems like a long time since I last checked in. Just before I went on vacation for the holidays, I came down with a nasty intestinal bug. Had some high fevers and chills and had to stay in bed for two days. I can't remember the last time that happened---must have been years ago. Anyway, Christmas shopping was last minute and limited and I did manage to get better in time to eat Christmas dinner. But I must have lost about 6 pounds in just a short time. I spent the two weeks after just working on recovering---good food, lots of rest, some walking outdoors in the sun and starting to exercise again.

How Chlamydia Pneumoniae Causes Such a Plethora of Diseases

The following is a condensation of a slightly longer post which can be found at this link.

The War Develops on Another Front

The battle has shifted to another front for me. In mid September I wrote that I felt a viral infection coming on. At the time, I had some pain in my right hand around the knuckles and a small lump under the skin. Dr. Powell tested me for some viral infectionsi and on Nov 1st, the results came back that I had an acute recently acquired Epstein-Barr infection. i started on Valtrex that day (2 grams a day). I was curious about the incubation period (adults 4-6 weeks) that places me right at the time of my dental appointment in mid August. Where else would I come into contact with saliva from another person? Some sloppy sterilization practices probably to blame. Damn them!

I thought the infection was tough (insomnia, chills, sore throat, swollen gland and
weight loss)...

Anyone treating Cpn for arthritus?

I was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis and cfsi about 5 years ago.  I have taken minocin for my raii for about 3 years and thought I was doing quite well.  I had not really addressed the cfs or c. pneumoniae during this time.  I didn't even mention the cfs to anyone much.  It sounded like a fancy name for being lazy and I blamed most of my fatigue on the rheumatoid arthritis.  The minocin I thought was keeping the ra pretty much in check, but the fatigue had gotten much worse and I decided to start doing everything I could to make some headway in truly feeling better.  I talked my doctor into the protocal for c. pneumoniae and I have just started taking the zithro along with my minocin.  I had already added the NACi of course.  I was wondering if there was anyone here who also had rhuematoid arthritis?  I'm suffering probably herxing from the ra and maybe the cfs at this time.  I'm having some discomfort in the bronchial area and more swelling in joints.  I will add the flagylii in about 2 more weeks.  I'm not doing my diet as I should and I will try to cut out the white stuff better.  Just wanted to share that treading water with minocin has certainly proved not to be all I should have been doing all this time.  Good luck to all.

Diseases associated with Cpn: the exhaustive list

I have culled from Mitchell & Stratton patent #6,884,784 an exhaustive list of diseasesi where Cpni has been implicated as a possible cause or co-factor (reference: Mitchell & Stratton patent #6,884,784):

Diseases where an association has been discovered between chronic Chlamydia infection of body fluids and/or tissues with several disease syndromes of previously unknown etiology in humans which respond to unique antichlamydial regimens include:

Editorial comment: Strong findings from their research. If you have any of these it suggests to me that at least an empirical course of the combination antibiotic therapy is strongly indicated, with or without serologyi.
