Hello to all Cpnhelpers...I'm very sorry about the spam blocking problems that have cropped up. The old system worked pretty well for years. I believe the problem was fundamentally political in nature: it had become influenced by fascist propaganda spammers. The system was centrist, originally, but apparently had become more and more authoritarian in its screening of posts. Even "staff" like Macintosh were censored! WinkSince there is no reforming extremists, we've switched to a completely different anti-spam system. Hopefully this will resolve things until we can do a more complete site upgrade. If you have any problems with the new system, post here as it may need some adjusting as we go. Thanks for your patience!

As good an explanation as any! Thanks, Jim!

I have only been flagged twice for my posts and they have both been this morning.  :( (This one is getting flagged, too, so hopefully it will get seen eventually.)

Started CAP for Cpn on 11/14/10 - Per my doctor, paused Abx 5/18/13 - NAC, B-complex, Vit D3 (50,000/week), Niacin (100 mg/BID). Started Buhner protocal (2nd edition) on 8/30/16. Currently using a blend of Buhner's Cpn and Mycoplasma protocols

Okay, guys, it should be running now, but all of yesterday's posts are stuck in the pipeline for the moment.

I have been flagged three times since the new filter has been put in place (and never before that).  What happens to flagged posts?  Do they get released manually and show up eventually?

How do you post if you are blocked as spam?

Happy to report that the new spam filter, after refusing my artwork (just like a gallery dealer), accepted it after I typed the required letters.

The new -used for two days only - filter is now gone. It literally didn't let any posts through, including my posts to tell you guys what was being done. The site techie guy knows about the trapped posts, but we're uncertain they'll be released, since we've stopped using that filter.  I count about ten posts of substance 'trapped', with a few more that just say 'thanks' or acknowledge an earlier post.  If you're particularly attached to something you wrote and it didn't post, give me an idea of the topic and I'll try to copy and paste it into its appropriate place (though it will be out of chronological order) .

I have tried to post several times over this past week (with and without links) and it won't accept my posts (even the one's without links!)   Frustrating :(

Jeanne, there seems to be a new addition to the site now.   A few minutes ago I was trapped when I tried to post on Russ Farrises thread, but as soon as I filled in the requested Captcha(?), my post went through......................SarahA  Journey through Light and Shadow

Captcha is supposed to 'catch' anything that might be spam (don't know what the criteria are), so it asks you to fill out a form that a 'bot' couldn't do. It proves you are human (hmmm...) and it weighs (in your favor) the fact that you are willing to take the time to fill out the form.

Jim, don’t worry!  Once I realised what was happening, its easy to manage...............SarahA  Journey through Light and Shadow

Hi All,Jim has asked me to sort out the spam problems on the site.  I installed a new module and still you seem to be having problems.  There is a list of unpublished comments.  If someone could go in there each day and publish comments that are valid then that might help in the short term while we sort this out.  Those people with admin and editor roles can access this area and publish unpublished comments: http://www.cpnhelp.org/admin/content/comment/list/approvalKent

Well, I was just denied access to the page, via the link provided. C'est la vie.

And then, I got the notification that my immediately previous comment was spam. I give up.

Why does Chiflatiron still have the ability to post his spam (every day) after being flagged? Why hasn't his username been revoked?

You can ban IPs of spammers, then you will not need spam filters.

Stratton/Wheldon protocol 02/2006 - 10/11 for CFS and many problems 30 years

I can't access anything to ban it. I've fallen off the list, apparently.

I had all kinds of problems trying to post yesterday.  I entered the requested letters and numbers and was denied several times.  I gave up and posted some today without as much hassle (but still having to type in the requested info).   This is the only forum that has that requirement, and I post on 5 others...there has got to be a better way....

I use the "Bad Behavior" spam killer on Joomla and Wordpress sites, it is a PHP-based solution for blocking link spam and the robots which deliver it. There is also a version for Drupal.http://bad-behavior.ioerror.us/ Bad Behavior complements other link spam solutions by acting as a gatekeeper, preventing spammers from ever delivering their junk, and in many cases, from ever reading your site in the first place. This keeps your site’s load down, makes your site logs cleaner, and can help prevent denial of service conditions caused by spammers. I suggest that you try this out - you may even be able to dispense with that captcha Wink

I used to get logged out, but that seems to have passed. I now get captchad instead, even when just editing something.  I don’t get notification of private messages anymore either so I have to keep looking to check if there are any......................................Sarah A  Journey through Light and Shadow
