Starting LDN tonight (Low Dose Naltrexone)

Okay, I recieved my naltrexone tablets (and also roxithromycin). I ate a roxi tab with my other abxi. Tonight before sleep I will start my LDNi therapy. What I did was order some 50mg naltrexone tablets from overseas for a cheap price. I have an expensive digital scale that can weigh milligrams accurately. So I weighed up the 50mg tab, and wrote down its weight. I crushed the pill up into powder, and did the math of how much a 4.5mg dose would be equivalent to in the crushed pill, then weighed out doses with my scale and put them into gelcaps!

Anyway, I just wanted to make a blog entry for myself and anybody else who cares to read, to track (my progress) with the LDN therapy. I really hope it helps.

I have been taking LDNi for

I have been taking LDNi for 2 and 1/2 months and I am not sure what it is supposed to do. What it has done though is give me greatly increased energy and insomnia. Not everyone gets this side effect but, for me, taking LDN at 11 pm is like having a double shot of espresso before bed. I'm up exercising until 1 or 2 am and need sleeping pills (plural) and valium to knock me out. But whatever it does, it does work. Have fun!

I tried it once, slept well and had lovely, colorful dreams. Still debating pursuing it full time. Wink

For three months, I have taken it every night for both MSi and cancer. At first I thought it kept me from going to sleep immediately, but now it seems to give me nothing noticable at all - which is probably good. It is doing its work quietly.

I've been taking it for

I've been taking it for about 6 months. Stopped taking it about a month ago because in the beginning i could tell a difference in my energy level, but over the following months couldn't tell much at all. Don't know if that means it was working or not. I'll be interested to watch and see how others like yourself fare with it!

I tried LDNi (3mg) for about a week.  I experienced insomnia and constipation.  I know not everyone experiences these side effects and that they should pass after a period of time (1 month?) but this was intolerable for me.  I can't bring myself to try it again.

I just took my first dose of LDNi last night (at one-third of the already tiny 4.5mg, so a 1.5mg dose).

Man, does it pack a punch! Within ten minutes I could feel a sort of raciness similar to the double espresso shot Arttile reports, though not quite that strong, and felt tingling and slight pain in my toes (peripheral neuropathy being one of my sxi).

I did sort of get to sleep okay, but had very wild dreams, not especially good ones, either, and a dry mouth.  And now, 12 hours later, I just had a slight atrial fibrillation.  I'll try it again tonight, and if these sx don't improve probably won't continue.  I'm also monitoring my eye very closely to see if it helps or hinders it, as I have no room right now for any further redness or aggravation to it.

Time will tell . . .

Alpha4: an update. I have now been taking LDNi for over 5 months and the sleep issues are easing. Sometimes I get through the night with just 1 benadryl and 2.5 mg of valium. What has helped, I think, is Louise's suggestion of using cortisol. I now have more energy during the day and twice this week i even felt well.

This has been a good thread for me. I switched my LDNi to my morning pills, with an improvement in my sleep (he writes at 3:05 AM.)

Just an improvement, not a total cure! It also seems to have helped my daytime energy level.

Ron, I've been told by my doctor repeatedly that LDNi acts on brain chemistry that is only alterable between 11pm and 1am. I looked it up on the internet and the research concurs. Placebo effect? Whatever works. Or maybe you're a vampire and have a different body clock.

I wish I had a "cure" for my sleep problems, right now!  I am again having to juggle my cocktail around.  Just had full & a blood moon & I know that affects me.  In the meantime, eradication of the CPni is the longer term cure imhoi.

Anyway, who needs a burst of energy at night? I'm very confused. Some extra energy, yes, when you're too fatigued to sleep, but . . .

I'll take it before bed, as on the label, but I don't understand.

Seems to be some format incompatibilites above, the initial sentence should read; Starting LDN tonight (Low Dose Naltrexone) topic revisited - the continuation of a thread relocated from a personal blog page to a forum topic.  The thread was started about 5 months ago and previous posts are included above.

I have been investigating this topic and searching back through the archives it is difficult to find previous post on this topic.
