I am currently now doxyi 400 mg and zithro alternate days. I am tolerating it fairly well but I havnt done a pulse yet since the upgrade to 400 doxy. Just wondering what should i do in this case. I know i cant technically get professional opinions from you all but i consider all of you professionals in cpn so I want and need those opinions with whatever rationale you have behind them. Many of you are far smarter and more knowlegeable than most dr's on this topic so i consider all of us here to be the professionals.
Doxy isnt causing porpheria per say but I do feel extra bloating of my tummy, I figured its maybe because i get lazy sometimes at my nite dose and lay down too early. Its nothing bothersome though, just sore a bit. Im hoping its not liver related.
Ive hesitated to pulse because Im scared to fry my liver, and also because i dont have enough food right now to take so many pills with, but next week will be the best time if im going to do it, so I'd love to hear your opinions
Thanks so much

Its a good thought
Its a good thought michelle, I thought the same thing. Im so filled with fear of two things that Im so cautious about every move i make. The first fear is that with pulsing the metroi i might make some anerobic or even cpni resistance. I know its fairly unlikely based on research and that this is the correct protocol and i will follow it, but i still get scared because i know its " possible".
The other thing that scares me is for anything to happen that has to have me stop the abxi such as liver issues, or clostridia. Im terrified of cpn brain infestation I simply wont live like that, not being in control of my own brain function... no way. Its all just scarey for me because of the point i was at prior to starting this protocol. Its like a post trauma for me at this point, just looking back at what was happening to my brain

Well i guess im going to be joining the pacing cat club this week because I know Im going to end up popping the pill as soon as i get some good vittles next week. Ive decided that if i cant handle the metroi with 400 doxyi i could maybe decrese to 300 doxy during the pulse... what does everyone think of that? Is decresing my doxy for a week bad for resistance?

Hi Clammed, Before reading
Hi Clammed,
Before reading all of the replies, my first thougt was to get a liver function panel done for baseline along with kidney function, just to see where you're at would be helpful. I like to see the labs so I can reassure myself when I'm feeling poorly that I'm doing alright. If you have medicare these are routine and are covered. You can get them done with or without the other tests in a CBC and CMP or just a couple of basics. You can read them HERE under sidebar 2.
Kidney - BUN and creatinine
Liver - ALT, AST
My understanding about resistance is that taking a combined antibiotics approach helps to protect from resistance so as long as you're taking more than one type of abxi, you ought to be fine.
I would also suggest to trust your intuition. If you feel a little anxious about pulsing, maybe you ought to wait until it passes and it will eventually. I think your idea of waiting until you have adequate resources such as moppers and food there would make the most sense.

I also failed to mention that I have a recurrance of that retchid bladder infection. Ive been trying to ignore it because I cant deal with any more antibioticsi right now. I know what germ it is and I know it responds to quinalones, so that is stressing me out as well. I know where and how I got it, from my chronic carrier relative whenever i go over there this happens. I shouldnt have gone.
So, I got a script for keflex instead though because i told the dr i didnt want anything that works against cpni like bactrim or quinolones ( because i dont want to ruin them for later cpn treatment).
I guess thats the reason Im so stressed out. I guess i should deal with the bladder infection before doing the pulse because that could be the reason Im having slight tummy soreness now that i didnt have before and some mild nausea this afternoon. Ok, Im thinking with more rational now, thanks. I guess I was wanting to ignore it hoping it would just go away but... It doesnt.
Heres what Ill do
1. do liver function test tomorrow
2. take course of keflex start tomorrow
3. do another liver function test after keflex
4. if ok, then, do metroi pulse

Hi clammed,
Sorry about the bladder infection, those are horrible.
I have been following this thread and it inspired me to bite the bullet. So today I started my first pulse. I'm only taking one 250 Metroi, planning on a 3 day pulse to start. So far all it does is make me queasy (but it could be the pizza.
)
Best wishes,

Clammed Doxyi 200 mg BID alone drove my liver enzymes up and up. At that level it is bacteriocidal beyond bacteriostatic which is what Wheldon CAPi is seeing at least initially.
If you have liver involvement of any extent you may pay the price. It has been a year and my number are borderline need to stop the medication for a break level.
What is the rational for the double doxy as I call it? Mine was the MD wrote it that way, a few folks here questioned me diplomatically. For me that dosage level was excessive at that point. Even backing down has not taken them down.
Just my experience. Louise

Hi LouiseRationale was " in
Hi Louise
Rationale was " in case this is lyme" even though we both ( me and dr)agreed that its probably not. Mind you, I have such severe cranial facial involvement, its hard not to think lyme, plus the fact that this dose is working great, but yes you are right, I may pay the price. Ill take one day at a time for now. I need to get off this bladder med first before I can acess whether or not my body can handle 400 doxyi plus zithromax. If not I'll drop down to 300 and if that doesnt work ill go back to 200. Its just very hard to stop doing something that is bringing such relief, but yes, I'll only do what my body says is acceptible. Fortunatly, Ive always ate healthy ( up until recently since gone broke) and have never been a drinker ever so my liver is one of my better functioning organs. Knock on wood

Also worth mentioning which is sort of freaking me out a bit
I got relief when i upped the dose to 400 doxyi which might be expected in cpni, but what is interesting is this..
I also got additional relief when i started the keflex. Heres the scarey part. Keflex doesnt work on cpn, it does however have some activity on lyme.
Either i have lyme as well as cpn, or an altenative attribution might be that the kelfex killed the bladder infection and my immunei system better responded to the cpn
Other attributions might be regular flora in mixed sinusitis etc..
I guess ill still never know, but i do know that this 400 doxy feels super great on my neck, face and cranial nerves, but then so does seem the keflex...? Ah well, I feel good... is all that matters I guess, for now

Sad but true there are really many "things" that one can have and so good that there is cross effect with many ABXi. How can one really know everything for sure that is living in their blood stream. DW called it the blood stream something but I am blanking on that interesting somewhat poetic quote just now.
