Evita: note that the woman is in a watery cave and riding atop a giant piranha (a symbol of extreme danger) while keeping the sun, a symbol of life, suspended above her hand. Ghostly and distorted images of the central nervous system and a tangle of neurons move to grab her while a capuchin monkey stares at you from the lower left and 2 iguanas look at her. From bacteria to us, these are symbols of evolution. She is backed by the spirit of feminine strength in the form of Mary riding atop the globe.

Excellent Nancy, I’m not sure if you posted this here before but you did on Facebook. It’s very suitable for this site, anyway because people need to be encouraged to leap towards the light and freedom. I try it with my arums and so on pushing upwards to the sunlight but I guess most people just see them as pretty pictures, although I would say that I have never painted a pretty picture in my life..........................Sarah
A Journey through Light and Shadow
Completed Stratton/Wheldon regime for aggressive secondary progressive MSi in June 2007, after four years, three of which intermittent. Still improving bit by bit and no relapses since finishing treatment.
Thank you, my friend! So our work is really quite similar, except in size: just wait until I get going on the Ariel series..........................Sarah

Well, actually, I would like to make these quite large and backlit. I hope to do one as a prototype but, unlike paintings, there is no need to do more until there is a demand for them. I.E. less costly and no storage problems.

Nancy, backlit would be excellent, like a stained glass window, but I am really not sure that if you are working from images taken from the internet that you have enough information in the image to make it much larger. What you could do is write to the original maker of some images, say what you are doing and ask if they could send you some larger versions to use. I did this with an image of the inside of a fig which I wanted to use in a large painting: the man from one of the Californian Universities was quite fascinated and sent me one by email in exchange for a print of an earlier work.........................Sarah

I don't anticipate a problem. At 11" x 18" there was no dissolving of the resolution. I made sure that all coopted imagery was at 300dpi before I used it. In the case of the Murillo painting, I started with the largest file I could find on the net. I don't know how big I want to go but I doubt it would be larger than say 40" in the greatest dimension, i.e. 2x the size I have printed at. And I distort and change most of the images anyway.

Nancy, I have been waiting to get "the light of art" I got on the first day of my pulse. I am finishing the pulse today and no light comes. I am the old one in the connection to the art. A painting says me almost nothing. I am looking at it I can see what is painted but no feelings come. I feel empty. I was so happy it is changing but it was just a glimpse. I like your painting but I would like to write something more. But I can't.

Thanks Jen and MM and Sarah.
Sarah, for your work beautiful is the appropriate word. Beauty can also refer to the tragic. Pretty is easy.
