Reply from Consultant

I've received a letter from my consultant and the content is just as expected. This was sent to my doctor with a copy to me.

This is a quote -

"The suggested treatment with abxi is untrialed and unproven. There has been one small study recently using Minocyclin (one of the abxi mentioned). This was a negative study in RRMSi performed by a group in Canada.

Despite this I would have to say there is no licensed treatment for prog. MS and my view of unconventional treatments is that generally, provided they're safe, I wouldn't strongly object if this is something (he) wishes to try and you are happy to prescribe."

Talk about damning with faint praise and seems to leave me with the only option of seeking treatment elsewhere since my GP was dismissive.

Well onward and upward.

Robert

From my reading, it sounds

From my reading, it sounds as though your GP was dismissive AFTER he received the letter. True? If not, unless my still-flagyli-fogged brain misunderstands, it sounds good. Hang onto the letter and keep looking. The specialist is correct: there is nothing to do for progressive MSi, and at least for me, the progression accelerates with blinding speed and this protocol is relatively harmless especially when compared to what is facing you. Are you on NACi and other supplementsi? The first order of the day is to stop progression; that is a start.

Hello Rica, no my GP just

Hello Rica, no my GP just would not entertain this before he received the letter. Yes I do see the letter as having some value as it was not an outright no. Perhaps a small lever in the future? Yes I am on NACi and the supplementsi, this site does nothing if not drum this into you.

Hey Robert, The letter is

Hey Robert,

The letter is somewhat on the positive side.  It has been mentioned that doctors who know about treating Lymes with long term abxi are quite familiar & approachable.

You are lucky you live at least fairly close to DW, he's your man, well... Sarah's.  Anyway, he is a good one to have on your personal team!

Best Wishes for the best outcome possible!

Peace

Ruth

Robert, my consulting

Robert, my consulting neurologist at Johns Hopkins said the same thing and used it as a reason to put me on the protocol. After all, she said, "you can't afford to wait for double-blind studies. This is what is being tried now."

Good luck,

Nancy
