Relapses while ongoing Protocol

Hi!

It has been a while I do not post nor enter the site, I had not much to say as the protocol seemed not to affect my daily life. (Just tireness and diarheas as a secondary effect).

Yesterday I woke up with the same feeling as my first optical neuritis (1'5 years ago), this time though, on the left eye and after 6 months of Protocol.

Is it normal to relapse while ongoing protocol? I am affraid my digestive system is not taking enough antibiotic properties due to its malfunction.

Thanks a lot for any advises! :)

Gisel.la, I have copied this from David's site http://www.davidwheldon.co.uk/ms-cpn-qa.html:

Can relapses occur after starting antibiotics?

In relapsing-remitting MS the major cause of relapse, a new respiratory infection with Chlamydia pneumoniae, will be prevented by the antibiotics. However, for the first six months or so it is possible for a relapse to occur secondary to a virus infection. This may be particularly likely in a household with young children.

Not all new deficits which occur during treatment are relapses, though: see page 10.

One question, and this is very important: what probiotics are you taking?  You need to take them every day, with a two hour gap between them and antibiotics. If you don't, your stomach flora will be completely messed up and the diarrhoea will continue.  Live yoghurt or keffir is a start, but something containing Saccharomyces Boulardii + MOS would be excellent in addition, and the capsules don't need to be refigerated, so you can carry them about with you, to take in an antibiotic free moment!...................Sarah

Completed Stratton/Wheldon regime for aggressive secondary progressive MS in June 2007, after four years, three of which intermittent.   Still improving bit by bit and no relapses since finishing treatment.

Ow Sarah... I knew you would hear my call. :D

Thanks a lot, I will follow your instructions. I have been 2 months out of Probiotics, trying to eat yoghurt instead, but indeed, I have to start with them asap.

Thanks a lot lot lot and a warm hug for a wonderful Xmas. :)

- Just an update -

The eye is recovering much faster than the last and only time. I restarted the suplements as I made a pause (or run out of some of them) two months ago.

I restarted taking the Probiotics (I still have a few): Solgar Advanced 40+ Acidophilus (1.5 billion microorganisms per serving!) and the yoghurt with the 2 hours wait between antibiotics. It went a bit better the first 2 days, but I still have troubles with my digestive system... it seems it doesn't want to sincronize...

Today I started with Kefir instead of Supermarket Yoghurt and I am waiting to receive the Saccharomyces Boulardii + MOS to start with it instead of the Solgar one.

I am following a regular normal diet though, if it persists I'll start with an astringent diet. :)

---------------

I have a curiosity about how MS affects the personality. I keep on seeing myself mirrored when I go to CEMCAT and see other patients (are we called patients?) discussing with the personnel... difficult to descrive.

I read a bit about the intoxication of the brain published in David's website. Fascinating. Is there any intersting article to read about? I'll try to look deeper into the site. :)

Thanks a lot, lot, lot. :D

- A fast update -

My digestive system seems to start recovering. Kefir already made a difference, no doubt, and yesterday I already started with Saccharomyces Boulardii + MOS. The result was imminent.

I restart all the Vitamins and Supplements again and enter the 7th month of Protocol. :)

Next April seems I finally have the MRI.

Once again, I am not sure what would I be doing without you.

My most sincere thanks.
