OH OH, Pulse three just before vacation!

Against the advice of my friends here on this site, I embarked on pulse number three today just a few days before I leave on a two week vacation. I can't see any other way. If I skip it, I will be six weeks between pulses, and at this point in my treatment, I am not willing to interupt treatment that much. I am hoping and praying that this pulse will be like the last in that I will not suffer too much. The only problem last time was the terrible rash that I got after the pulse when I went and spent a day at the zoo. I won't expose myself to sun this time for sure. I am not fully recovered from the last rash. I still have some redness but the pain is gone. I went to the beach yesterday but spent the whole time in the shade of big trees while my family was in the sand. I didn't mind tho. I enjoyed the experience anyways. I will do three days if I can; three 250 mg tabs per day. Then I drive 21 hours with my two daughters and baby grandson to a family reuinion.  My supportive caregiver husband cannot make the trip with us so that will be tough. I think I am dreading the drive more than the pulse. My daughters drive so that's OK and we won't take the drive straight through. I desperately hope that it is somewhat cool and cloudy. The sun through the windows can be bad and with the little baby, I can't have full blast air conditioner all the time. Right now, my feet are burning and stinging and I have a raging thirst, both manageable. Fuzzy socks and endless cups of weak tea.

Call me crazy, but I want to get well just that bad.

Todybear, I am with you in

Todybear, I am with you in spirit all the long way. Someone said that at some point (like NOW) this has to be the first priority or it will never get done - this is not anybody's idea of the most fulfilling job, certainly. I have a feeling that if we were a normal bunch we would never start, which means, of course, that we do it even when it is inconvenient.

Rica and Tody, I

Rica and Tody,

I wholeheartedly agree.  We are a certain select bunch, unlike the norm or we would never do any of this to begin with.  Smile

It sounds like you've already given alot of thought to your third pulse.  Just don't forget the moppers and yes, avoiding direct sunlight (for now) is a good idea for you.

BTW, I'll be doing my second pulse of tinii [10] this month too.  I was facing a situation too where I thought I was leaving town but that's been canceled now so I'm glad that I can stay home and pulse without any added concern.

Tody, let us know how it goes!  Wink

TB, have a wonderful time

Submitted by ruthless1 on Thu, 2008-08-07 13:05.

TB, have a wonderful time at your family reunion.  Take lots of vitamin C to counteract the stress of the trip which seems to be evident already.  Travelling can kick the crap out of me.

Please be careful when you are driving, my brain fog has me not venturing too far away from home.  This weekend will be the first time in 2.5 years I will drive for one hour to a wedding.  My daughter & I will be taking the pictures which will allow me to get a little rest if I need it while she is out snapping away.

I pray things are going better for you & your husband as well.  This is a difficult time in our lives; remember you 2, you are not alone.

peace

My advice would be to put a fleece nightie and a knit capi [8] on the baby, wrap him up tight in a blanket and then go ahead and set the car's air conditioner on "absolute zero".  Babies are well insulated and generate lots of heat so he will be none the worse for his trip in the back seat of the car (which he will later in life describe to his friends as "ice station zebra").

The way my schedule has worked out, I've done nearly half my pulses while travelling so I know you can do this.
