Why Peanut Butter?
By Sunnivara
Created 08/05/2008 - 9:50pm

  • Flagyl
During my first flagyli [1] pulse I craved bread with peanut butter every day sometimes eating it 2-3 times a day. When my pulse was done so was the desire for peanut butter. I thought maybe it was a coincidence but the first day of my second flagyl pulse I'm back into the peanut butter jar! Why on Earth would flagyl make me crave peanut butter? Anyone else get weird cravings during pulses?

I have absolutely no idea.

I have absolutely no idea. Could be your body is lacking something that's in the PB. Be thankful you have a craving for that. My cousin got cravings for coal when she was pregnant. She'd sit there eating chunks of it. These days I'd recommend charcoal tabs.

Same here with the peanut

Submitted by Michele on Wed, 2008-08-06 06:01.

Same here with the peanut butter.   I think there is something about the taste and the thickness of the paste that help me cope with the awful taste of Flagyli [1], but there could well be a need for some of its constituents:

lysine, threonine, methionine, cystine, arginine, tryptophan, tyrosine, protein, oil, fiber, mineral elements,  aspartic acid, serine, glutamic acid, proline and phenylalanine.

I know that porphyrins bind with fatty substances so there may be some of that going on too.   Just guessing really, because I'm definately not a scientist...

I experience no bitter

Submitted by Daniela on Wed, 2008-08-06 06:14.

I experience no bitter taste because of Flagyli [1]. Also the tablets are very lightly coated and taking them is easy. Easier than NACi [6]! I also have cravings during a pulse, well, actually most of the time. Specially for sweet high carb stuff including peanut butter. I try not to give in but.......Embarassed

The crucial question:

Submitted by Jim K on Wed, 2008-08-06 06:31.
The crucial question: crunchy or smooth? Wink Does flagyli [1] make you feel a littly nutty? No idea really, but figured there had to be a joke or two in there somewhere.

Because it's a wonderful

Submitted by cypriane on Wed, 2008-08-06 08:48.
Because it's a wonderful comfort food, and a pulse is a time when you need comforting.  I'm one of those people who won't keep it around the house, because it disappears too quickly (I'm a PB addict).  Even now, I'm imagining how good it is.

Coal?  Peanut Butter?

Submitted by Reenie on Wed, 2008-08-06 15:39.

Coal?  Peanut Butter?  Hmmm... how 'bout cheese and pasta with alfredo sauce?  Smile

I try to watch my PB intake mainly because it's tough on the liver, or so I thought from something I read once, a long time ago.  Undecided

But I do now know that the fats definitely help me feel better when I get enough in my diet and I always thought it was because it slowed down the digestion of the carbs in the stomach which is only partly right.  Now I know the fat content is also vital for helping absorb those porphyrins.

I have noticed that I do feel better with less red meat although I can definitely eat fat like olive oil, butter and cheese... oh, and peanut butter.  I think I'll go have some lunch now.  Wink

Crunchy.  And until

Submitted by hdwhit on Thu, 2008-08-07 23:16.

Crunchy.

And until Sunnivara mentioned it, I didn't think about the fact that I eat a lot more peanut butter around the time of a pulse than I do the rest of the month.  I finished a pulse last week and I remember making Peanut Butter and Honey sandwiches on hot dog buns because there wasn't any other kind of bread in the house.

And I have benefitted from

Submitted by katman on Fri, 2008-08-08 10:51.
And I have benefitted from Louise's advice on how to take abxi [24], including flagyli [1]: Eat the first half of a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, take all my pills (doxyi [4], azith if is is that day, and flagyi if pulsing), then eat the other half. Today it was my special cereal: Multi-grain cereal, banana, raisins, strawberries, honey, pecans, and (thanks to Raven) - blueberries with abxi [25] halfway through.

Yeah, my flagyli pills

Yeah, my flagyli [1] pills taste horrid too. Maybe the coat the name brand but I get the generic and they're too cheap to coat it.

The flagyli taste does not

Submitted by Michele on Sat, 2008-08-09 14:16.
The flagyli [1] taste does not come solely from the taste of the pill as you swallow it, for some of us it has to do with cpni [13] infection in the mouth, tongue, sinuses etc....   At one time when I first started the taste was coming out of my skin.   I was uncertain at the time whether it my imagination or not so I had someone not doing a pulse lick my arm, and they tasted it too...
