6th flagyl pulse
By loriyas
Created 07/28/2008 - 1:32pm

  • Antibiotics

I just completed my 6th flagyli [1] pulse yesterday.   It was supposed to be for 10 days but I struggled to get through 7 days.  I keep having recurrent UTIs and am on an additional antibiotic for that so the combination was a lot to take.  I suffered from body aches and nausea this time as well as another terrific headache yesterday.  Plus, I just don't feel well overall starting about the 3rd day of flagyl.  I feel toxic!  I will make sure I take anti-porphyriai [2] measures regularly next time to keep the bad feelings at bay.

Interestingly, today (with no flagyl) I feel good.  So I know it is the flagyl, and maybe the combo, that does this to me.

Next month I will keep up the Emergen C, glucose and charcoal on a regular basis. (Maybe by then we will be able to get to the bottom of the UTIs).

Be tough, Lori. You're DOING it. You really are. I know that 'toxic' feeling well and don't know of any other way to describe it. Just keep chipping away at the bacterial loadi [5] and the toxic feeling lifts without your even noticing!

Lori, will your provider consider the tinidazole substitution in his protocol?  In some ways I could understand if he does not.  Just a thought.

Submitted by loriyas on Mon, 2008-07-28 19:43.

Raven-unfortunately I have been doing cranberry capsules.  Am currently undergoing a few tests to see what is up.

Louise-actually the doctor had told me originally that he would switch me to tinii [16] if flagyli [1] was too hard to take.  When I saw him in June I told him I was tolerating it ok.  If flagyl causes me problems the next time I am going to contact him to ask about switching then.

Lori- you've done an amazing job starting in so fully and getting through this number of pulses-- considering that 5-7 day pulses are the rule here in many protocolsi [17]. That "toxic" feeling three days into flagyli [1] is so very familiar, and I never was able in the beginning to get past three days on flagyl without force of will. Tinii [16] suppressed my appetite, but little nausea, and the toxic feeling at three days was more clearly porphyriai [2] and not an affect of the drug. I think tini is worth a try for you, and might allow you to sustain the full ten days. I ever so impressed with how you are doing.

hey guys, nice reading. I also felt that 5 days pulse is sort of short, now i passed day#7 at my current pulse and still alive :)))

I am trying to do for 10 days if i am able to. It would be great. Just one question i find annoying to take pills so many times per day, so i take the full dose of flagyli [1] (1200mg) but twice a day. i read generally it should be given every 8 hours. does it REALLY matter if i take 400mg 3 times, or 600 mg twice a day? I dont know about others but i feel so great with flagyl, even though it makes me tired and so on...Also that i started the whole thing a few months ago and able to take doxyi [7], azith, NACi [4], flagyl in full dose for quite long. I hope i can finish it sometime next year......

Trying for ten days at pulse six?   Wow.   My hat goes off to you (at the same time my heart goes out to you).   I didn't make it past five days until pulse #10 and then it was only to go for six days - and I paid for that sixth day with significant paranoia for the next two weeks.  I hope you don't have a similar experience.

The doctor at Vanderbilt

Submitted by loriyas on Tue, 2008-07-29 17:21.

The doctor at Vanderbilt told me to go 10 days.  I wouldn't have attempted it on my own!  But I have been in contact with him today and he thinks it would be best to switch to tindazole.  So I guess that is what I'll be doing next.

I HATE the taste of flagyli [1].  Is tinii [16] better in that regard?

Veressv - I often split my full dose of flagyli [1] into morning and night and have recovered quite nicely, I think. When you're taking flagyl for seven, ten or more days I don't think there's much difference whether you're taking more twice a day or a bit less, but three times a day.

Michele, How is your

Submitted by Louise on Wed, 2008-07-30 06:46.

Michele, How is your experience with Doxyi [7]?   I have now tried both US generic capsules and US generic Tablets.  I have been hoping that after a year of passing it into my gut that any gut lining CPni [10] may be put out to pasture.  I would like to work toward the ability that many here report, such as just take it with a large empty glass of water or a cracker on an empty stomach and no nausea, fear of vomitting in public etc that constantly grabs me when I very seldom catch myself in need of taking it empty stomached.

The tablets seem better by a small amount even with full meal.    And last evening I was away most of the day with some volunteer work.   We moved the new minister into his parsonage  and with an hour to spare I dashed home and took the full 200 doxy and 300Roxi  that I have been doing all at once for the past week as an experiment for myself.  I'll not go there about what I am finding in other ways  will talk here to Stomach response on very empty stomach with just an oat cake ( love those oat cakes by the way, learned to love them in the UK 20 years ago)  By the time I  had driven back to a scheduled meeting, nausea began to rear its now also slightly pain provoking head.   A strong smell of crayons in the humid closed up room contributed to nausea,  I kept quiet and still hoping that an urgent egress would not be forthcoming.    I had about 8 oz of water available and I finished it down, and after about an hour from taking the meds nausea and pain did as they do when the doxy goes into the duodenum,  instantly disappeared.   I do have a bottle of flagyli [1] available to me.  I have not tried even one.

I do have a heavy CPn infection,  porphoria is ever present for me.   Currently I have moved to a 6 week course of nightly Cholestyramine in the  late evening last thing after everything else has had a chance to move into and along in the small intestine.   I am priming with a modest piece of cheese, waiting about 15-20 minutes, taking the cholestyramine 1 packet with an extra glass of water, sitting for a time of fquiet relaxation then going to sleep.   The results of this have been much improved when I check that wonderful reactions and remedies list, I am having very few X's for which I am thankful and feeling alert, in check with my emotions, and energy to move all in this time of heat with no airconditioning presently.

I will likely try the Flagyl and do my course of Clari, but for now stable is good and anything I can do to avert Nausea and abd pain resulting form the CAP is high on my list of must does.  I applaud those who find the ingestion of these substances Doxy and Flagyl with some envy.

JMHO, Louise

Lori,

You're tough and you're making it happen.  Kim's using

Chlorella this time around, while to early to tell, she's doing well in terms of side effects.  I think this stuff is helping, but again, it's too early too tell.

Keep it going girl, you're beating it.
