new here and have some questions

i am treating for lyme and co-infectionsi, and take 500mg zithro daily with 200mg minocycline, and 2 tsp mepron. my lyme dr does not want me to go to the mwf schedule but my neuroi says that is the cpni protocol.

if i am tolerating 500mg a day and liver enzymes are ok is there a reason to change to a mwf schedule?

Anything that follows is purely the opinion of a non medical person, always talk to your doctors...

Your protocol is close enough to our protocol and the reason we take less is that this is a long drawn out protocol and azithromycin has a long life in the body, so it could have unforseen effects.   Make sure you have regular blood tests so make sure that you are tolerating it well enough.   Some people find Azithromycin hard to take.   But if you are managing to tolerate it well enough I should go with what your Lyme doctor says.   If you should find it difficult I would talk to your Lyme doctor and explain your symptoms, maybe both your doctors could talk to each other.

This is pretty much a personal call as to whether or not you trust the lyme doc or the neuroi more. Personally I would stay on the higher dose for lyme coverage if i was diagnosed by a LLMD but you need to go with your gut. The reason for lower doses for cpni is because die off is usually very difficult with cpn and treatment takes a long time. If you are tolerating those meds then die off may not be a problem for you.  It really depnds on your diagnosis though. I take zithromax 250 daily as opposed to mwf myself.

You might want to start taking the supplement N-acetyl cystiene though because it is a part of treatment for cpn and necessary if you do have cpn, plus it also helps protect your liver.

I vote for staying with the higher dose, as long as it's well tolerated. Lyme docs are geared specifically toward killing the Lyme and have agood handle on what it takes to wipe it out. If you're taking the same meds as our protocol, but the dose of the azith is the only point of contention, use the higher dose. Then you should be making both doctors happy, and you'll be killing both the Lyme and the cpni

I am pretty sure the minoi reduces the effect of the mepron---which your doc probably knows already. I agree, stay with the higher doses if you are tolerating them. I'm a big fan of mepron right now, and I know our doc has seen a lot of improvement with his MSi patients with the liquid gold. Lexy
