NAC test

Hi all,

I'm planning to do a NAC test tomorrow, to see if i have some of the die-off symptoms.

- Is it better to distribute the dose of 2500 mg over the course of the day, or just take it all in once?

- Is it better for this to take NAC on empty stomach?

- Can i expect symptoms on the first day or just after a few days?

Thanks in advance for your answers!

I forgot to tell: NAC is already in my daily supplements for at least 4-6 months. Can i still expect a reaction with a higher dose? Or is it to late to do the NAC test now?

I'll venture a guess you won't see much of a response, if any.  Most of us had that flu-like feeling for a few days to a week or two, then it subsided.  (A few here have had long reactions to starting NAC, but you'd already know if you were experiencing that.)

Regardless, you have to get your dosage of NAC up, so it might as well be now. Image removed.

Hi there,

I too had been taking 600mg of NAC daily before I started the CAP, without any noticeable symptoms.  When I uped my NAC to 2400mg I definitely noticed lots of cold/flu symptoms and was so tired I had to stop my physiotherapy. Perhaps I should have increased the dosage more gradually, but I was happy to experience these symptoms because it convinced me that I had Cpn.

Good luck!

When I did the NAC test, I did it with 600 mg capsules and took two (1200 mg) in the morning and another 1200 mg in the evening.

I found it more tolerable to take NAC along with my other morning vitamins and supplements with food.  I actually found a hot dog on a bun to be very good at keeping my stomach from getting upset.

In my case, it took several days.  I already had sinus problems, so I didn't notice anything like that from the NAC.  I did get mild muscle aches in my legs which I took as confirmation of a "positive" NAC test.
