nac
How long does it take for NAC to produce any proof that its having some sort of effect, be is positive or negative? Just any "proof" that indicateds that elementary bodies are dying whatever that may be
Thanks

Some people seem to get Nac flu/cold on small doses quickly for others it takes larger doses 2400 mg a day for a few days before they get Nac flu/cold. Also others here have improved from antibioticsi but never experienced anything noticeable from Nac at all.
For me - taking the NAC with Vita E and Selenium really turned the hydrant on in my sinuses.
Daisy - Husband on CAPi 5/07. Minoi, Roxyi, Diflucan round two 1-31, Rifampin, Bactrim DS, Prednisone, Novantrone, Doxyi, Azithromycin, Flagyli
Daisy - Husband on CAPi 5/07. Husband died from Acute Myelogenous Leukemia Secondary to the Infusion of Novantrone. Ie - the treatment with the conventional MSi drugs killed him.
Daisy on her own CAP 11/2012.
I got the so-called "NACi-flu" (runny nose, chills, muscle aches, etc.) a couple of weeks after I started taking 1,200 mg (2 x 600 mg capsules) a day and then I got a milder version of the same symptoms when I stepped up to 2,400 mg per day.
CAP for M.S. since 8/2007. Currently: 100 mg Dox. (2 x day), 250 mg Zithi (3 x week) ceased 3/2008, 150 mg Roxi (2 x day) starting 3/2008. Sixth pulse metronidazole completed 3/15/2008.
CAPi for M.S. 8/2007 - 3/2009. Twentieth pulse metronidazole + INHi completed 3/12/2009. Intermittent treatment thereafter until 11/20/2009.
Agree with Daisy and Hd - if you keep ramping up the dose you should notice something within being at 2400mg for a few days.
Is there anyone here that doesn't react to NACi at all??
CFSi. Started CAPi 03-07.
Currently: Roxi 600mg + Doxyi 200mg . 10 Pulses done. Sauna every other day. D 7200IU
Everyone is different. Some people have a small amount of EBs to deal with while others have more. It really depends on how long you've been infected.
In my case, I had a massive load of EBs. My first empirical test of the CAPi was using NACi for 3 days. I took 1200mg per day for 3 days and the results were unmistakable. So, do whatever you feel is right to determine for yourself whether there is a CPni infection but be warned, you may have an outcome that you're unprepared for, so be prepared.
all my best
John

I didn't start NACi until about eighteen months after starting abxi and all I got, at 2400 mg a day, was a runny nose for a few days. David got much more reaction for about three weeks...........Sarah
An Itinerary in Light and Shadow...........Completed Stratton/Wheldon regime for aggressive secondary progressive MSi in June 2007, after four years, three of which intermittent. Still slowly improving and no exacerbation since starting. EDSSi was 7, now 2, less on a good day.
Mac, thats pretty impressive that you still react so visibly after so long (even if its only for a few minutes). Especially given that your reactions otherwise have been muted. Just goes to show how useful NACi is as an indicator of the presence of Cpni.
P.S. I wish I got sinus drainage reactions. Mine are much more subtle and long term (mostly severe drop in body temp).
Is also makes me wonder if there anyone amongst us who gets absolutely no reaction from NAC whatsoever.

Look for sales! I generally use Swansons as I've found their house brands to be of good quality, as are those from Vitacost. Periodically there are 2 for 1 sales and such that help out.

Paula seems to get fluish type feeling every once in a while. The major symptom is the intermittant clear mucal drainage into her throat from her nose and/or ears.
She started getting this after starting on the maximum dose of Samento and continues to this day. As Samento has general antibiotic properties, we wonder if it is doing the same job as NACi?

NACi is not an antibiotic as such, it only acts on the EBs by disrupting di-sulphide bonds. Not sure what effect Samento might have.

Hi thanks for the replies, and for the record, in my case it took 2 days (*and I guess because my infection is in my facial nerves and skin)... I woke up in the middle of the night feeling like I had mites. I even had to shower. I dont think it was all in my head because it woke me up out of my sleep and the main itchy area was coming from my left facial area where i had the injury. But nothing bizarre escapes me experience with this infection, its somtimes more than i can bare to be true
