Jim's Editorial on Powell's protocols - questions about a couple of comments

Jim - your editorial and the letter from Dr. Powell were genius and SPOT ON!  What a phenomenal physician.

Wish this is how more practiced - by thinking of the patient VS what their peer group would think.

That being said -the post mentions "treatment with measures that support methylation, restore depleted nutrients, increase body temperature and WBC function".

How does Dr. P go about supporting methylation and WBC function?  Very curious on those as those are both things I have been working on for my husband.

Hi Daisy, many Licensed naturopaths that have degrees from an accredited school work with the Methiolation concept.  I have heard several talk a bit on it in the somewhat distant past.  This is a great topic thanks for bringing it to the surface.

Jim, please write more about what methods Dr. P is using. I'm already taking B12 shots. I found some nonprescription glutathione cream. Is this the same as prescribed cream? I didn't find much useful info Googling Yasko. a bunch of pages are not longer available. I'll keep looking. Combined Antibiotic Protocol minocycline, azithromycin, metronidazole for muscle pain, insomnia, interstitial cystitis, sinus, disphonia, dry eyes, stiff neck, veins, thyroid, TMJ.

minocycline, azithromycine, metronidazole 2007-2009, chelation for lead poisoning, muscle pain, insomnia, interstitial cystitis (almost well), sinus, dry eyes, stiff neck, veins, hypothyroid, TMJ, hip joints (no longer hurt)

Janice - try searching this site for Yasko - a ton of info already exists on this site and is the basis for what I am trying with my husband - I was curious to know if Dr. P was doing something else - innovator that he seems to be.

Here's the link for the page where methylation therapy was discussed: http://www.cpnhelp.org/go_as_fast_as_you_can I ordered these supplements and felt much better when I was taking all of them at once. But I ran out and need to reorder. Raven CAP since 8-05 for Cpn and Mycolasma P. for MS and/or CFS

Janice- I don't think it's appropriate for me to discuss his methods, mostly because I really am not knowledgeable in everything he is up to, and barely about those things he is doing with me! As he tailors what he is doing to the particulars of the patient, I would be further concerned about presenting strategies that aren't appropriate for everyone. His use of Vitamin D, sauna, iodine supplements and the like are pretty familiar to folks. The methylation work is not his, but he obviously has found it useful for some patients, but based on what indicators I don't know.

Hi,

I am a patient of Dr Powell's and started his methylation therapy a few weeks ago. I am currently also on Valtrex and all the supplements, but not antibiotics.

This is what he told me to take in order to support methylation (if this is not recommended to post publicly, please let me know)....he said there is a genetic test that can be done to see if you have a gene that inhibits methylation, but it is costly so he just treats for it anyhow to see if it helps patients:

1. Folapro, 200 micrograms 1 tablet daily

2. Hydroxycobalamin AND methylcobalamin 1-2 tablets three times daily

3. Phosphatidlyl Serine Complex 100 mg 1 capsule 2 x's daily

I haven't seen any big changes from taking these supplements, but they hopefully are strengthening my immune system....

Gearing up to starting abx protocol from Dr. powell.

Initial diagnosis of Interstitial Cystitis (july 06), progressed to all over falling apart syndrome within the past year. Current supplements/meds: sublingual B12, ursodiol, Niacin, NAC 1200 m
