Nancy, Thanks for sharing, what is the scale of the original work?  Yes it is a good metaphor for our journey.  Louise

Wow, Nancy, that is incredible!  It certainly is a suitable metaphor and maybe you felt the storm approaching back in the 90's................Sarah

An Itinerary in Light and Shadow

Completed Stratton/Wheldon regime for aggressive secondary progressive MS in June 2007, after four years, three of which intermittent.   Still improving bit by bit and no relapses since finishing treatment.

I don't have the measurements on this painting (it's already framed) but its probably about 30" x 40". It dates from 1993, pastel on Arches cover stock. I spent 4 summers in northern Wyoming between 1990 (when I had an artist's residency at the Ucross Fdtn.) and 1994. For 2 of those years I taught pastel landscape at the local college.

Wonderful picture!

minocycline, azithromycine, metronidazole 2007-2009, chelation for lead poisoning, muscle pain, insomnia, interstitial cystitis (almost well), sinus, dry eyes, stiff neck, veins, hypothyroid, TMJ, hip joints (no longer hurt)

OK, I'm way out there, LOL, but, my initial reaction was a vision of the parting of the Red Sea (10 Commandments) only with Jim (Moses) leading all of us cappers' through to the other side....

Thank you for sharing.... great painting for deep thoughts and pondering.

Nancy, 30" x 40" that's wonderful, my sense was that it had to be on the larger side and that that would make it all the more captivating.  I enlarged it a bit till it went out of resolution and I could see more of the fine color detail within the funnel- like vortex of the grey clouds.  Did you paint it from memory or photo? Or is it imagination base on a series of like happenings?   Louise

Actually, it was a pre-vision of David's leadership.

Photo enhanced by memory. My aim was always to catch the feeling of exaltation that I felt in that landscape, something that my photos, however good, could not do as well.

This is a pastel painting I did of an incoming Wyoming storm. It makes a good metaphor for our journeys.
