Hello everyone I haven't been on the forum for some years as I have been getting on with having a happy and active life after doing the Wheldon protocol for MS back in 2009-11. My MS (which was becoming quite aggressive in 2008) has been in total remission since then - no new symptoms and no new MRI lesions. However, a few weeks ago I contracted a new chest infection (symptoms typical of CPN) and I could tell that the MS was active again - tingly legs and trouble with walking in a straight line. I have gone straight back on the Wheldon protocol and the symptoms have settled down again. I have just done my first 2 day pulse of Metronidazole and I got a reaction of feeling giddy, fatigued and a fizzing sensation in sites of old MS damage (although the reaction was much less severe than when I previously first did treatment). Hence I feel pretty sure the CPn has been growing quietly and is now a problem again. I assume my recent chest infection was a new CPn infection. Does anyone else have a similar experience? Any advice from you knowledgeable ones? I started a low carbohydrate diet together with some short 1-2 day fasts a few months ago after discovering I am prediabetic - could this have encouraged any remaining CPn to grow again? Or maybe I stopped treatment prematurely last time? Any ideas? Also, does anyone know any doctors in the UK willing to prescribe as Dr Wheldon has now retired (I am so grateful for his help last time around)? It is nice to see some of you old timers are still here! with all good wishes Agatha

Agatha, are you taking your supplements every day? And how is your Vitamin D level? I plan to take 2400 units of NAC twice a day every day for life. I have been off of abx for years now - I will look at my blogs to see when exactly, but my MS symptoms are gone and I limp only a little. My right side is weaker than my left, though a little of that is my left-sidedness. Staying with it is the main thing. Rica

3/9 Symptoms returning. Began 5 abx protocol 5/9 Rifampin 600, Amox 1000, Doxy 200, MWF Azith 250, flagyl 1000 daily. Began Sept 04 PPMS EDSS 6.7 Now good days EDSS 1 Mind, like parachute, work only when open. Charlie Chan  In for the duration.&am

Thanks for your reply Rica - I remember your struggles and I'm so glad you're doing well - do you still have your goats? Yes, I have been totally faithful with my NAC, probiotics and vitamin D - except for a few days three weeks before my recent new CPn infection - my husband was gravely ill and I forgot them. I haven't been able to afford the other supplements with any regularity though I do my best. I can only guess that I stopped treatment prematurely first time round and that remaining pocket of infection in my brain have been quietly re-growing. This time round I will be relentless and plan to do a month of anti chlamydial treatment once a year for life. I note the Stratton and co are doubtful whether CPn can ever be truly eliminated so I guess it depends on how good the body is at controlling it. It is a great bore but I am grateful for you and this site - makes it all feel a little less lonely. All the best Agatha
