English doctors have the thumbscrews applied.

Body

This seems harder to do in some countries elsewhere in the world but I fear that they will try to make things harder here too. When I recently quoted NICE guidelines as saying that "Tho Shalt Not prescribe antibiotics to anyone who is still breathing or who has a detectable heartbeat" or else the bint that's the Chief Medical Officer for England - Dame Sally Davies - will cut bits off of their anatomy; you all thought I was joking.

Supaguy, I must slightly disagree with you here: antibiotics were much overprescribed here, but very often for the wrong reasons.  I have heard people say that they must go to see their GP to get some antibiotics for their child who has a bad cold, or a cough that is going down onto their lungs, whatever is meant by that. What is really needed is time for thev GP to properly examine the patient and discover what is really the problem, and be firm with people who want antibiotics when they are really suffering from a virus. Then, of course, no animal should be given prophylactic antibiotics just to make them grow fatter or more quickly.  That is why I never buy or eat non-organic meat, milk or eggs....................Sarah
