Have you tried Betine Hcl

I was wondering if anyone has used the digestive enzyme called Betine HCL?

My doctor started me on this and I have noticed a huge die off reaction. From what I have read it's to increase stomach acid. I know yeast likes high PH levels ,so could this be killing the yeast?

Thank you.

Yes, I also take Betaine HCL from time to time. Haven't noticed die off from it though. Could be it is cleaning up the small intestine. Last time I talked to my doctor he mentioned he thought he might do this. Raven

Hello Bonnie, interesting that you bring this up as I have just been doing some reading/research on enzymes and how important they are to our health.   You might find these links of interest.

There is a possibility that it could be yeast die-off per this excerpt:

 http://www.enzymestuff.com/discussionadjustments.htm

"3. Enzymes are known to help keep yeast and bacteria in check. When digestion starts to work better, you have better nutrient uptake and less malabsorption. This healing can start to kill off any yeast or bacteria overgrowth. In addition, enzymes can break down the yeast, bacteria, and pathogens directly. As the microbes die, they may release neuroi-toxins and substances that can produce allergy-like symptoms. This die-off reaction is common with other yeast and bacteria treatments. You may see more frequent bowel movements, increased irritability, increased or decreased appetite, flu-like symptoms, hyperactivity, and behaviors that are more compulsive."

 I found this especially interesting:

Benefits from using proteolytic enzymes can include:

  • Reduced inflammationi for, among other things:
    • Increased heart health
    • Cancer prevention and recovery
    • Alzheimer's prevention
  • Cleanse the blood of debris
  • Dissolve fibrin in the blood, reducing the risk of clots
  • Raise the immunei system
  • Kill bacteria and viruses
  • Improved circulation
  • Eliminate autoimmune diseasesi
  • Speed up recovery from sprains, strains, fractures, bruises, contusions, and surgery
  • Help with MS
  • Help with arthritis
  • Help with sinutis and asthmai
  • Dissolve scar tissue
  • Aid in detoxing
  • etc.

Not only have I added digestive enzymes again, (I used to take them several years ago)  but take serrapeptase.

Digestive enzymes are vital in assisting our bodies during the harsh healing process of capi. Thanks for the great information Jeanne and for your input Raven.

I have had horrible brain fog lately to the point it's been scary. After learning more about diffrent causes of die off, I realized it has to be the yeast problem again. Last week I was taking Fluconazole and the Betine and was unable to focus and felt like a zombie. This strange anxiety and hyperactivity as you mentioned was making it difficult to hold it together.

Your gut can also produce a gas that is toxic to the body by food that is not being digested.

  Great information guys,

  Thanks again.......Bonnie

I will be glad when my brain works again.
