Excercise

I have the fortune of still being well enough to spend time at the gym, staying in as good a shape as possible.  I've noticed that when I excercise, I often feel better not only immediately following the workout, but on the following day I'm more able to move around, a little less off balance, and just stronger.  It's more than just having added strength since it seems to improve balance and just how I feel in general.  I'm wondering if anyone here might have a theory as to why that might be.

I have an idea that maybe the excercise causes something in my body to be released that counters the infection, albeit on a limited basis and temporarily, or that maybe my immunei system is strengthened by the excercise, or that maybe the process of sweating is helping me to expel some of the infection, or some combination thereof.

Any idea what might be going on?

If I get out of my schedule of working out, after a few days I definitely notice a deterioration of how I feel, even though I maintain myself through supplementation of glutamine.

Hi,

I am pretty sure that excercise is one of the best Cpni therapies there is. Presumably the reason is that Cpn is unique in that it uses its host's ATP to grow. So when you excercise, you rob it of the excess ATP that it needs to thrive and it usually reduces down into an elementary bodyi (basically a spore). This form is harmless and steals no energy from your cells and you feel better, have more energy, etc.

Of course it will eventually attempt to enter into the replicating state again (reticulate body). But Cpn replicates quite slowly so you can keep it in check (and probably reduce it somewhat as there would eventually be attrition if it never replicated) if you excercise enough. And interestingly most experts on excercise think 2-3 times a week is about optimum and Cpn takes at least 2-3 days to replicate.

I do not think excercise would ever allow one to erradicate Cpn but it is certainly an adjunct to therapy that should be considered. But for those taking ABXi and having trouble dealing with the symptoms, remember to go slowly. When you begin excercising, start gradually and build up. It can have the same effect on you as say Flagyli and should be treated with the same caution.

Paul,

it is very interesting, I will start practicing my yoga exercices again asap.:)

Stratton/Wheldon protocol 02/2006 - 10/11 for CFSi and many problems 30 years

To add to Paul's great response, I just want to say that the muscle relaxation resulting from exercise can create a feeling of well-being that stays with you for awhile.  I find that even the little time I spend each day on my Healthrider  loosens muscles enough to make for greater ease of movement into the following day.
