Has anyone had eczema appear when treating with the CAP or noted any references to Cpn and eczema?  Just wondered because I had it when I was a child then it disappeared for many, many years and it just reappeared out of the blue a week into my 1st Flagyl pulse.  I googled exzema and Cpn and found a few things but not a huge amount of data about correlation.  Just wondering since it was unusual after 40 years of not appearing... Any comments welcome....Len

I have had a small flare of eczema on my right elbow this past week.  I am into my 9th week of 200 Doxy and just started 2nd week of 250 Azithro, MWF.  Definitely feeling better though but finding it hard not to scratch this red, itchy patch!  I also wondered if it  was connected..

Another new symptom that comes and goes is some pain in an area on my finger joints that is very swollen on 3 fingers and I wonder if this could be another indication of bacteria being stirred up?

You're going to find you 'revisit' a lot of old symptoms as you progress in treatment. I describe it as going back down the road you originally traveled. Generally, you'll see your most recent symptoms addressed and disappear first. Your oldest symptoms will hang on the longest and be addressed last. And, any place you had a prior injury, you'll probably have some pain or irritation there again. My theory is the immune system, while trying to heal an injury, carries lots of cpn-infected cells to the injury site. They, of course, set up housekeeping there and further inflame the injury site. When the abx start to kill them off, the old injury seems to flare up, but it's really the cpn being killed off.

Hello Bertie, this post made me remember that I had a patch of eczema at the front of my right ankle for several years. It mostly went but then reappeared with vengeance when I started CAP.  It is all gone now, though, and has been fine for about six years..........................Sarah

A Journey through Light and Shadow

Completed Stratton/Wheldon regime for aggressive secondary progressive MS in June 2007, after four years, three of which intermittent.   Still improving bit by bit and no relapses since finishing treatment.

Actually its really helpful to know that this recurrences of old symptoms are a good sign.  Its interesting in that these very swollen joints on 3 fingers were one of the first symptoms I got when I experienced something I thought was Rheumatoid Arthritis but which my GP said it was a virus.

I was never the same after and it goes back to around 1996 with what was called ME/CFS.  I have had a few bouts of stabbing pain in one of these fingers over the last 24 hours, its really quite strong whereas since they started swelling I have never felt any pain unless I have banged them.  I would describe it as like a hot poker is being placed on the joint but it doesn't last long.

I will take it that is pretty typical once we start treatment.  Otherwise I feel quite good apart from being a bit virusy.

My fingers, hips, shoulders, neck, knees, and feet went through this. It is mostly gone now, but took several years - and hurt! Occesionally there is a short-term low level ache, but nothing like when it was being seriously attacked.

3/9 Symptoms returning. Began 5 abx protocol 5/9 Rifampin 600, Amox 1000, Doxy 200, MWF Azith 250, flagyl 1000 daily. Began Sept 04 PPMS EDSS 6.7 Now good days EDSS 1 Mind, like parachute, work only when open. Charlie Chan  In for the duration.&am

Brilliant answers and fascinating too.  I also had major neck pain after my first pulse but thought I had just "slept funny", but maybe, given a pre-existing neck injury, it was just the Cpn being treated where it most congregated?!.  Once you peel back the layers so many things can possibly be connected to inflammation/immune response/CPn setting up house and now it may all make some sense!

As always, thanks for the interest/insight and responses. The adventure continues!  Regards, Len

Started Wheldon CAP Nov 2010 for interstitial cystitis suspected to be caused by Cpn. Now on all supplements, Doxy 100 mg 2/day, Azithromycin 250 mg M,W,F, one complete Flagyl pulse completed.

I'm glad I read these posts, because I've been on Flagyl and Doxy for 2 weeks and the eczema I had around my eyes and mouth has intensified. I was also assailed with a pain in my lower back last night and woke up with a cold (?) this morning. I really feel and look a mess!
