with as many posts retrieved as possible.  I have all the relevant ones over the last few days saved, so I can put them up if the authors don't have them.  Not tonight though: I have some accounting to do.

The messaging is now working, by the way.

Well, I won't know until someone replies to me of course! We still need a window in which to write to new people: at the moment I can only write to people who have written to me already.

So, how does one post a new message? I am using an Android device. I don't see any tab saying "Messages". Perhaps I need to go to Specsavers. Actually, I do need to make an optician's appointment but it won't be Specsavers 😎

I don't see it either, Supaguy, and I'm on my netbook.

You can do it by deleting an old message but I want to see if a new window can be made.

I've got 'Add a new message' at the bottom of my screen, but the only person I can message is Sarah - and it gives an error message when I try to send anyway. Looks as though there is still a bit of work to be done before we can start communicating again.

Boadicea, why am I the only person you can message? Try deleting my name after making a new message: that's what I have been doing.

Sarah - I suspect you might be the only one I can message because we had already started a conversation thread last August. That's all I see when I go to 'Add a new message'. I hadn't started a new thread with anyone else and can't see any way of doing so. I'll send some screen prints later - need to put the shopping away and fetch the washing in first!

Boadicea, here's what to try: Write your message, then delete my name and replace it with the name of the person you wish to message, then send. I'm going to ask if there is another way, but that is the only way I can see at the moment.

There doesn't seem to be any option to delete your name. I've just sent some screen prints, to show what I can see. It now says at the bottom that I have a new message from you - but there is no sign of it when I go to the messages.

But you delete the name in the space where you put the person's name you want to send a message to, just in the way you delete anything written wrong! If you are using a smartphone or similar, below the space where you write the body of the message is a space which says 'to user,' just delete the name/names and then press 'update' to send.

Your name is already there in the box, below the box where you write the message, but greyed out, giving no option to delete or alter. Using iPad.

OK, but it works fine on desktop or laptop, so I must ask about this on Sunday!

I have now tried posting a message on my smartphone and can"t, so the problem is with small devices. Must be fixable tomorrow.

Actually, I think the fault is with permissions to send messages. I am definitely not going to mess with it bt leave it for the expert to sort out tomorrow.
