Probiotics

Firstly,  is there a ‘create content’ button somewhere?  One that someone as daft as me can’t find!

i’d like to know if my experience with probiotics is common.

I felt really, really great, better than for years!  I use herbal drops to reverse my hypotension, take my colbamin B12, and my other B’s, at least, but found probiotics really setme back, a very long way!  I’ve used them, on and off, for a year or two, and loved them! I had very painful bloating and severe constipation, since my emergency appendectomy, aged  13, when i was 30 i discovered laxatives, i have never abused them, or used them to lose weight, but used them regularly for a few years, for physical comfort. I discovered, only a couple of years ago, i’m extremely gluten intolerant, possibly Coeliac but would need to eat  several weeks of gluten to find out, and I won’t do that!  Diagnosed with MS aged 40.

i’ve always been as strong as an oxe, had loads of stamina, until recently, i felt fabulous until i restarted probiotics. NAC also made me weak and tired. Sauerkraut and yoghurt, also causes long-lasting fatigue and weakness, so I guess it’s my gut, still and die-off?

Jane, I'm not quite sure what to say here, except that if you gave up probiotics completely, you would end up feeling a lot worse, as your intestinal microbiome became totally messed up.  Maybe it would be a good idea to have a look on Amazon for some prebiotics to take instead.  If this doesn't work, though, it might b just a case of die-off still going on.

Completed Stratton/Wheldon regime for aggressive secondary progressive MS in June 2007, after four years, three of which intermittent.   Still improving bit by bit and no relapses since finishing treatment.

I know others who struggle to tolerate kefir or fermented foods, because of histermine problems, find this probiotic works well for them, as it is very gentle: https://www.mandimart.co.uk/cp1-custom-probiotics-d-lactate-free-probio…. It is expensive, but it is high strength, so a low dose could be taken.

Are you certain the fatigue isn't the result of pulsing/herx/die-off?

hi Boadicea,

Yes i’m sure this is die-off, from gut nasties, and , Sarah, yes i know you’re right, and you gave me a link to some probiotics previously, but, just now, I’m minded to steer clear, at least until Summer is over, but i don’t want to give the bugs a chance to replicate! David suggested a good antihistamine, previously. Maybe i should go that route?  I’m really interested that Bo knows others who don’t tolerate probiotics, i wonder if prebiotics would be better, although die-off would still be a problem, wouldn’t it? Although i’ve had stomach pain for years, I wonder if the bugs are slowly exiting?  Or, maybe, as the Gut problem is well established, it will be the last to go. I’m sure that if i had die-off before MS, i would have been strong and determined enough to ignore it!

Thank you both, for helping me.

I'm not really sure why probiotics would be making you worse, if you think the problem is die-off from gut nasties. How do you get on with ACV (apple cider vinegar - Bragg's 'with mother' is a good one)? I find that very good for gut health.

Hi Jane!

I am the one you are looking for. ;)

My guts are sort of an ecosystem in recovery... I try to please them by eating healthy food and avoiding ready meals from the supermarket...

I asked my GP for an 'excrement test'? This sounds animal... well, in any case, he told me something about the possibility of growing parasites in the guts if the diarrhea's became chronic... I changed my Probiotics for the Boulardi's + MOS, it seemed it helped a bit, though, something changed after the first full pulse of Metro...

I would say my toilet's are still not perfect, though, I try to keep them under control...

If finally, you'd have any coeliac disease, here you might find free publications (Catalan, Spanish and sometimes English) about what to cook and recipes for different 'health and eating habits'.

(this is the website I almost get crazy while coordinating the making... I worked there 7 years... not much of the info is in English, though Google Translate is always an asset. ;) )

I hope it helped a bit. :)
