Originally published in the Globe and Mail (should have put a link up earlier), but now available here: http://www.sott.net/articles/show/150704-The-vitamin-D-miracle-Is-it-for-real-Lots of interesting speculations. Nice also to read that Dr Vieth "walks the walk", huh?

You know the really sad part is that when you do a search on "Vitamin D Cancer" in pubmed, 271 studies show up, starting from as early as 1951. I can't help wondering how many people could have avoided cancer (and so many other diseases, really, as the article points out) if we had studied Vitamin D3 seriously in the 50's.
Let's hope it's better late than never, and we start funding the types of studies that will convince the rest of the medical community...

Red, there's still just one large interventional study on cancer, that I know of. Is that the only one so far that you know of?
It is, of course, a spectacular one (the Nebraska one, namely).
I realize there is non-interventional work that bolsters the Nebraska finding. However, I think it is when 1 or 2 other groups replicate the Nebraska interventional data (assuming they do replicate it) that we will see a real mood of epiphany, and a publicity explosion. I've been telling my family to take at least 1-2000 IUs of D, but if there is another large interventional study with similar findings, then I will really hound them to take it.

Hi Eric,
I believe the one you mentioned is the one large interventional study that exists for Vit D3 and cancer. Dr Vieth was involved in small interventional study in 2005 too, I believe...
Hang in there...
