I hope someone has a fix for me. I picked up yeast pretty quickly after beginning CAPi. This surprised me because I have a morning protien shake with caproil, etc. and take therapeutic doses of probiotics. I took vitamin Di and progressed to high doses because I read that helped, it didn't; I took VSL#3 and it did nothing; then FiveLac and finally ThreeLac because FiveLac gave me an allergic reaction. Nothing helped. My mouth thrush was so bad the throat swelling and pain mad it hard to eat and speak, my voice is a bare whisper. Along the way I even tried gargling with Iodine and all I did was stain my mouth and make my spit black. The yeast was everywhere. I began a high dose of Nilstat and when that didn't work went on DiFlucan. After 2 weeks of Difulcan I have to stop because of sever liver pain and billary colic. I have not had antibioticsi in a month and my yeast infection is worse now then when I stopped. (I have also been treating the 'other' area too, the oral Difulcan should have knocked that out and it didn't and the application treatments are not effective at all -- this is just too strange!)
I am taking ThreeLac hourly now. I am still bedridden and my husband is doing the low carb diet cooking. Nothing seems to work and I do not want any more pharmaceuticals -- my liver reaction really put the fear in me.
Has anyone had success knocking out out-of-control candida?

Hi Corinna,
sorry to hear about your yeast problem.
I use allicinMax to kill cpni. Its also antiyeast and antiviral! I read a lot about it and I think it helps. Just a warning if you try it just start with one allicinMax capsuel because you can have very strong dieoffs from it.
Best Wishes from Maria

Hi Corinna,
I don't have yeast but had it when my immunei system was very comprimised when I first became ill with this fun stuff we are all suffering with. Anywho...
I do get skin reactions which appear to be fungal in some not so fun places and did so after my tinii pulse which I'm sure was a form of fungus or yeast due to the bactericidal. When I get these issues, I eat whole plain yogurt (you know the real stuff without any sugar or flavor) which I try to do daily anyway, and I began taking grapefruit seed extract 2x daily.
In the past, I've used Citricidal drops for gargle and drank some in water. The gse does seem to help me control the yeastie beasties and the fungus among us!

Corinna, Has a provider
Corinna, Has a provider looked at a scraping from your oral mucosa under a microscope to diagnose it as candida? I am wondering if this could be something else.
Not so sure what that might be. I also am trying to remember what you had been doing dietarily before starting CAPi. I recall some sort of low carb dietary approach and that you once you began cap increased your carbs with wheat based products? do I remember this correctly? Was this a large change in what you had been avoiding up to that time?
With all the high power yeast medications you have taken I just would wonder if it were me if it was something other than a yeast infection as a culprit.
Just some thought s to look at this from a different perspective.
Perhaps the grape seed extract that Reenie suggested could be helpful.
Hope you turn this around soon. Louise

Corina, good suggestion to have this cultured. You want to know what you are fighting.
As for stuff that seems to work for me:
Garden of Life Primal Defence (has saccharomyces boulardii--a special probiotic that is hard to kill)and soil organisms.
Olive Leaf Extract (one dropper in a cup of licorice tea)
Oregano Oil capsules (when you burp it tastes like pizza but very good against yeast)
I hope you get a handle on this soon.

Thank you very much for the excellent advice, tips and pointers.
I am going to note everything you've all suggested and send Tim out with a shopping list.
Lousie, you remembered right I was avoiding all gluten/gliaden and generally low carb eating with caproil and probiotics. I added so much "bad" stuff to my diet to ward off the porphyriai it knocked me down good and I haven't got myself back together yet. Feel like Humpty Dumpty writing that. I have my tests on Wed. -- it was assumed to be C. Albicans but things didn't respond.
I am hoping that I can resume my CAP when I settle things down. I had some good results in the short time I did it.
Thank you again everyone.

I'm with Maria on trying
I'm with Maria on trying allicin/garlic for yeast. HERE is DR. Wheldon's recommendation for both it, and NAC, for liver reaction. I don't recall whether or not you've said that you've been taking NAC.
And, HERE is the garlic probiotic that my adult daughter and I have been taking since we started CAP. We never had a yeast infection until we tried switching probiotics because we didn't like that our sweat smelled of garlic. Then, we both got one within a few days. And, we don't even live in the same state.
We restarted that garlic probiotic and our yeast infections went away, almost immediately. That was over a year ago, and we haven't been bothered by yeast, since.
Yet, your infection does sound quite severe. So, maybe the AllicinMax that Maria suggests might be more effective. So sorry to read that you are bed-bound!

It does sound as though you have attacked Candida in every way, and if you are still suffering as badly as before you started it seems unlikely to be candida alone which is the culprit. In my own experience there are other bugs that can give you some of the symptoms you describe, although I have never had the mouth and throat problems you are describing. I have however had some of the other symptoms that did not respond to the usual Candida treatment, but did respond to metronidazolei. I also find that some of the treatment recommended for Candida can give me severe symptoms.
Oregano oil, psyllium husk, Saccharomyces boulardii, Caprylic acid, Undecyclenic acid all irritate my GI tract and make it very painful and mucousy...

Hi Corinna,
I had pretty good success with Garden of Life Fungal Defense at the suggestion of Astrodiana. I just followed the directions on the bottle for dosing.
You know, one other thing. If you are still on the Iodoral, you may want to try stopping it to see if this helps. I took it for a month and noticed that it may have been interfering with the Vit D3 / NACi combo. After a week of not taking it, I'm just now getting over most of what I'm thinking was a pretty good sized round of die-off that ensued once I stopped it. One of the things I noticed was a lot of foot itching, making me think it may have allowed a tinea infection to set in again. It is just now stopping too after a week.
Anyway, I'm wondering if it could be interfering with anti-yeast treatment for you. It's so hard to tell, but I haven't had any of these symptoms for months and months so I'm attributing it to the Iodoral...
Hang in there, and keep us posted. Be sure be very careful and not fool around too long with this on your own. See your doc if possible...

Maria, Thanks for that
Maria,
Thanks for that link. After reading about allicin, I wonder if this might be a good fix for Corinna who may be struggling with anything from yeast, fungus or bacteria which is damaging her immunei system to the extent that she's having trouble maintaining a proper flora balance.
I do believe Citricidal, GSE and Grapefruit Seed have much of the same properties which may be why I don't have any flora problems.
The nice thing about Citricidal is it can be used as a mouth rinse and might help Corinna directly.

Corrina, I found this plant
Corrina, I found this plant that is supposed to be antibacterial and antifungal. Looks like it is also used to treat Lyme:
http://www.digitalnaturopath.com/treat/T475857.html
Spilanthes acmella
"It is sometimes called the toothache plant because chewing on one of the flower buds will numb your mouth and make you salivate. This plant owes its activity to the antiseptic alkaloid Spilanthol, as well as immunei stimulating (and saliva stimulating) alkylamides. Spilanthol is effective at extremely low concentrations against blood parasites, and is a poison to most invertebrates while remaining harmless to warmblooded creatures. This is the explanation for its utility against blood parasites, specifically malarial spirochetes, either as a prophylactic or as a treatment for malarial paroxysms. Further investigation of possible activity against other conditions involving blood parasites, including Lyme's disease, is warranted. Because of their high isobutylamide content, both Spilanthes and Prickly Ash have similar stimulating and therapeutic actions.
The herb is also a strong anti-bacterial. Studies show strong in-vitro activity of Spilanthes extracts against such common pathogens as Escherichia coli, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Proteus vulgaris, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Salmonella gallinarum and Staphylococcus albus. Spilanthes also inhibits the yeast/fungal organism Candida albicans, which is responsible for the nearly epidemic condition known as candidiasis. The internal use of this herb stimulates an increased rate of phagocytosis, increased production of white blood cells and an increased production of antiviral interferon. A study was done on dried Spilanthes leaf from Rwanda showing active immunomodulating activity, specifically increased production of mononuclear leukocytes. Given the obvious sialagogue (saliva-inducing) effects, it is clear that there is stimulation of not only the parotid glands, but also of the interrelated lymphatic system. Anything that moves the lymphatic fluids will defend the body against disease, and assist in the ousting of toxic metabolic waste."
It's something I am looking into. There is an infusion available on the iHerb site.
