Life After Fibromyalgia

I still can't believe what happened to me.  Once I was ill with fibromyalgia and chronic myofascial pain syndrome.  Then I went through a long period of treatment by Dr Powell, and towards the end of 2009 emerged feeling quite well.   I took a break from antibiotics over Christmas 2009 and glimpsed wellness and freedom from pain.

In 2005, after 5 years of living with chronic pain, I found out that I had fibromyalgia.  My FM package included a very large portion of chronic myofascial pain syndrome.  The musculoskeletal specialist was blunt.  My condition could be "managed, but not cured".  He told me I must stay relaxed as stress hormones were toxic to me and would aggravate my condition.  I must use weights, relaxation exercises and daily physical exercise to keep the pain under control.  I must submit myself to regular needle probings to deactivate my tensed, highly irritable muscle tissue.  I was very frightened.  <
