On February 26, 2009, Dr. Stephen Olmstead, Chief Science Officer for ProThera® and Klaire Labs™, gave a lecture to the Physicians’ Roundtable meeting in Greenville, North Carolina on gastrointestinal biofilm. The presentation was entitled:
Life on the Edge: The Clinical Implications of Gastrointestinal Biofilm.

Interesting
Interesting Jeanneroz
I read the abstract that's at the link you gave. It didn't list Cpni as a bacteria that can potentially use biofilm, which is what I would expect. Since Cpn is intracellulari, is it even possible for it to operate in a biofilm? I wouldn't think so.

You are correct in that this
You are correct in that this article doesn't list CPNi; BUT, many of us don't really know for sure ALL the pathogens we may be hiding in our biofilms, (as well as metal toxicity) and I am willing to bet most of us here on the site DO have biofilms.
This is is what I found of interest:
Biofilm explains why many common infectionsi are difficult to treat with antimicrobials and are characterized by recurrent relapses. Antimicrobials may transiently improve symptoms as planktonic pathogens are killed, but the underlying source of the infection, sessile pathogens within biofilm, cannot be eradicated.
So, one could continue to take ABXi, but if the biofilms are hanging on to pathogens, progress will be inhibited until they are eradicated.
In my particular situation, I have all indicators of biofilm involvment .. my EBVi and HHV-6 levels are still high, my iron and magnesium low, my CPN IgGi titers are still very high -- all this after 3 years of treatment. These are all indicative of possible biofilm intereference.
Part of the reason I posted this as a bookmark is because quite a few here are starting to address the biofilm issue.
The Dr. who developed the InterFase Plus product recommends going slowly and starting without EDTA first, but it appears prescribing doctors are having the patients jump in with both feet :) It's whatever one can tolerate to get these beasts out of us.
I do believe biofilms play a role in our healing process. I wish I'd have known about them when I first started treatment.

Jeanne, Thanks for posting
Jeanne,
Thanks for posting this information. It is interesting how many physicians are using biofilm busters with the antibiotic protocol.
Many lyme doctors are teaching on biofilms and how important it is to address them. I think it is another missing link in getting rid of the many pathogens we have, along with the CPNi.

One other comment on the biofilms. I have been on Amoxicillini since Jan. and found once I started the InterfasePluse and/or the enzymes my die off reactions went through the roof. I am convinved these are real and work along side the CAPi treatment.
It has made a huge impact on my yeast and gut issues for the better.

Just drop by Amazon and do a search, it will show up for $30 for 120 tabs fulfilled by Amazon and because I'm a prime member I had 2 day free shipping. it should not be a secret where to find this medication. Unless I put up a link everyone will know I will not make any money by mentioning it.
I think it's bad enough that physicians try to make money with it by only selling it through their clinics for extreme prices. I'm always very open about where and how to get to the things you need, we already pay enough out of our pocket for our care as it is.
@John maybe the reason you can not find it is that it is spelled interFase with an 'F" and not with 'PH". Confusing I know.
So it's Interfase Plus and not Interphase Plus. ;-)

Hey Joppe, it's no secret about InterFase or InterFase Plus.... perhaps you should consider I may have had something personal to convey in a message to Farandwide......
Thanks for your input! I, too, will be interested in hearing how you react considering your illness. Just as an aside... I was bedbound for about a year and a half upon starting the ABXi, so know the importance of going slow and how this protocol can affect some of us.
I wish I had known of the biofilms before I started the antibiotics. You are one of the first here (or at least to publicly post it) to be treated this way initially so it will be very interesting to follow your journey.
