Today I had my post-op checkup - "spectacular", got the drains and the Iron Maiden (my name for the ace bandage) removed, permission to drive (hot dog!), restrictions - don't lift 50# bags of grain for 4 weeks - not even 25# buckets. Will do. The very best part, though all that was pretty good - absolutely clean path report.

Since "they" sent the PT in the morning after surgery, I feel obligated to do my adhesions prevention exercises. I think I am going to have full range of motion. Doing a sentinel instead of a modified radical was very definitely the right thing.

An Itinerary in Light and Shadow...........Completed Stratton/Wheldon regime for aggressive secondary progressive MS in June 2007, after four years, three of which intermittent.   Still slowly improving and no exacerbation since starting. EDSS was 7, now 2, less on a good day.

Daisy - Husband on CAP 5/07.  Husband died from Acute Myelogenous Leukemia Secondary to the Infusion of Novantrone.  Ie - the treatment with the conventional MS drugs killed him.

I almost forgot three things: first, thanks to everyone for caring - this place is so great; second, I will not go on the roof, I will not go on the roof, I will not...;third, Brenda got her Doxycycline today! This is the same Brenda to whom I gave my cane two years ago, who has been on Rifampin and flagyl for TWO YEARS - not that she hasn't been trying! She told him she wasn't leaving until she got it!

Rica, Wonderful news - very happy for you and Richard. Mr. Wiggy says hello and was wondering how your surgery went. On Wheldon protocol for MS since April, 2006.  doxy 200 mgs daily, zithromax 250 mgs 3x/ week , Flagyl Pulses start end Sept., LDN 2004. Gad-enhanced MRI of brain and spine shows NO NEW DISEASE ACTIVITY and one lesion diminishing in size on 9/30.

5oo mgs Ceftin 2 x/day, 500 mgs Zithromax, 500 mgs 2 x tini pulses,100 mg diflucan, 4.5 ldn; Wheldon protocol for MS April, 2006 to May 2008. 2008 MRI shows NO NEW DISEASE ACTIVITY, 2012 MRI no new disease activity.

Rica, Sound like you are doing so well and the path report is the icing in the cake.  It's great that you are back to typing up a storm so soon.

Rica ~ You're truly an inspiration.  My Mom went through almost exactly the same thing 5 years ago and sailed through as well.  She's had no similar problems since and continues to get clean reports.  You sound a lot like she did - just something that needed to be taken care of, then move on with the rest of your life.  Your positive attitude is what we should all aspire to emulate!
