Diana was one of the last people tested at Vanderbilt before the Cpn lab closed and was evaluated and treated by Dr. Stratton with the help of her local physicians. Her full story is fascinating as it charts a course many of us with CFS and FM are all too familiar with. She also provides so glimpses into the bigger studies Dr. Stratton participated in suggesting up to 50% of CFS patients may be Cpn related. Astrodiana has her full story at this link:http://www.phoenix-cfs.org/Story%20Diana's.htmDiana will be condensing this story for this site, but in the mean time I thought you'd like seeing the original missive.

Wow Jim. What a great story! Thanks for posting this for us. What a heroic guy our Dr. Stratton! All of us are so grateful to him. And thanks to Diana for telling her story.RavenDr. Powell's protocol for Cpn and Mycoplasma P since 8-05, for MS and/or CFS.

Good story Jim . Gives us all hope. Why did Dr. S close his lab? His protocol seems different now.Why the change?

200mg doxy daily, 500 zithromax mwf,flagyl 1000 m-fri.rifampin 2x daily,chloestryramine 2x daily

Simply put, they ran out of funding. The protocol has evolved as more clinical experience has accumulated, but you can see in various expert comments that INH and Rifampin is still used. They are hoping to reopen the Cpn lab and start to reinstitute testing and research.Combined Antibiotic Protocol for Chlamydia pneumonia in Chronic Fatigue Syndrome & Fibromyalgia- Currently: 150mg INH, Doxycycline/Zithromycin, Tinidazole pulses. Jim, Would this not be something we could lobby for?  I'm thinking, if the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation is looking to save the world from basic diseases, this would be one heck of a place to direct some funding!  If Dr. Stratton has any idea on how we could help, count me in.The difference between what we do and what we are capable of doing would suffice to solve most of the world’s problems.  Mohandas Gandhi

Oh no!  I had not heard that they had closed this lab.  I am stunned.... So, what exactly does this mean?  Is Dr. Stratton still seeing patients?  I'm trying to get caught up on things.Thanks.

What an interesting story! It gives us imagination, how long we can be into the treatment..Prague, The Czech Republic, On Wheldon protocol for Cpn and Mycoplasma since 02/18/2006.

I think Diana´story should be added to Patient stories in no shorter version...there is too much important information.Prague, The Czech Republic, On Wheldon protocol for Cpn and Mycoplasma since 02/18/2006.

I searched for Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation conditions for grant seekers. And here it is. I think there is a possibility to ask. Even chlamydia trachomatis is on list and chlamydia pneumoniae is much more dangerous.Prague, The Czech Republic, On Wheldon protocol for Cpn and Mycoplasma since 02/18/2006.

Dr. Stratton still sees patients when he is able. He is head of Microbiology so has a lot of othe rrepsonsibilities. The lab referred to is the specific Cpn lab which was set up through donations and grants to do the original research. There are efforts being made now to reform that lab and enter into new research using the detection techonologies developted by Dr. Stratton and his team to new areas of treatment. All still in the works. There is a lab in England (on our links page, near bottom) which is negotiating to use the Vanderbilt primers in Cpn testing and may become a commercial source for Cpn testing using these more accurate tests. David Wheldon may be consulting with them on this. If you are interested it is worth contacting the company so that they know interested parties are awaiting available tests.Combined Antibiotic Protocol for Chlamydia pneumonia in Chronic Fatigue Syndrome & Fibromyalgia- Currently: 150mg INH, Doxycycline/Zithromycin, Tinidazole pulses. Thanks.  I just read that about the lab and was shocked.  Still trying to get caught up on things and get back on track after some illness/death in my family. Hubby's doctor had discussed sending my husband on to Dr. Stratton....another reason I panicked when I read that.  Thanks.
