Anthony Azenabor: CPn "rigidizes" macrophages, subverts anti-bacterial action

This scientist is specializing in the Chlamydiae, so he's going on my 'watch list.' Here is a popularized treatment of his publications, and I will look for the original papers.

This is going to be a molecule-by-molecule fight, evidently.

I am so happy when a scientist has a last name like "Azenabor" instead of "Smith" or "Brown" or "Patel". Makes it almost too easy to search.

Where's the challenge in that? I suppose the challenge will come in finding free versions of it all and trying to understand them when I do.

The more we know about Cpn the more it explains the diseases it causes.   At last I have something else to blame for my high BP.   It's not waht I eat it is all down to Cpn.

Calcium-channel blockers are commonly prescribed for certain heart/High BP conditions. the one I am familiar with is called verapamil but there are others. Not sure you should rush into taking them as they can cause adverse effects (like all active drugs), changing the way ions go in and out of cells is to be done with care, IMHO Nelly PS I think we more or less posted about this research about the same time, I'll leave mine up since I did some highlighting :)
Nelly (France-neuroLyme and ????)

Yes, I was just kidding about picking up some L-type calcium channel blockers.  It also served to get the terms in range of the cpnhelp search engine, too.

Still, I will be watching these dev. with interest

Doctor P and I discussed this very subject in our last conversation.  He also has some other things he's trying for exposing CPN.  I'm sure Jim might know more about it than I do.

I have been kind of on the fence about trying a calcium channel blocker since I have prescription for one. I was just a little afraid that it might adversely affect my normal blood pressure.I might opt for the Pyruvate and Prilosec. Will discuss at my next talk with my doctor. My last pulse was rather mild and I'm 3 days into the current one. Will see what transpires. Anything to get rid of this nasty beast. I feel that the reason it is taking so long with me is that I must have built up a lot of cryptic organisms. Perhaps this is the hardest form to kill. Raven, I would be interested in knowing what your doctor says since I also have normal blood pressure and I suspect that the times I feel faint it is dipping below normal.

He keeps mentioning how he needs funding to research his patent. We need to start a fund-raiser! Ah, if only I wasn't going broke from medical bills and supplement costs. :(

Asthma, chronic sinusitis/rhinitis, chronic tendonitis, hypothyroid. Jan 9, '08 started Azithromycin 1000mg/week.

Calcium C..Blockers made me feel very relaxed and calm.  My blood pressure was somewhat off but at that time I didn't know it was due to infection.

Now my bp is normal so I too wonder how it would effect me now

Dr. Powell mentions in his letter (posted in the recent Handbook page on his CAP variations) the use of Nifedipine along with the CAP antibiotics. I believe this one was the most effective in Azenabor's in vitro studies. He has said that it does take careful monitoring with some patients and is not appropriate for all given the variations in heart responses. Sounds to me like it is not as benign as some other meds since it regulates heart rate and not just bp. Don't try this at home...
