Advice on Protocols

I was diagnosed with adult onset asthma in 2003.  About 10 months of having this new health issue, I started taking doxycycline for another health issue.  I noticed my asthma went away while I was on the doxy.  I googled and found Jim Quinlin's story and he referred me to Dr. Hahn.  My doctor would not prescribe 3 months of antibiotics but I was able to get ahold of 2 1/2 months doseage.  I was asthma free for 12 years.  In 2016, I noticed I had slight asthma when exercising.  I spoke with Dr. Hahn and he suggested I take doxy for 6 months.  I also questioned that in 2014, I started having joint and muscle pain in my arms.

After taking the 6 months dose, I am again asthma free but the myalgia is getting worse.  I contacted Dr. Weldon who said it sounded like I have chronic CP and recommended I come on this site.  Now that I am on here, I see there are a few protocols to choose from.  Which protocol is recommended for someone living in the US?  Also, I think I am allergic to azithromycin - what might be an alternate?

Thank you,

Trish

Why do you think you're allergic to azithromycin?

Have you read Dr. Wheldon's pages and his version of the protocol?  That is what most people in the US are using.

I get nautious when I take azithromycin but from what I read on Dr. Wheldon's page last night, it sounds like it is because the medicine is doing it's job.  I will give it another try then.

I've written his protocol down and will get it started with my doctor - he's a new one in the past couple years and more than willing to work with me on this!

Thank you,

Trish

True azithromycin allergy is quite uncommon: I’ve not seen it. As you say, you can get reactions  as bacterial toxins are released.

D W - [Myalgia and hypertension (typically 155/95.) Began (2003) taking doxycycline and macrolide and later adding metronidazole. No medication now. Morning BP typically 110/75]

Trish, you can get nauseous even more easily with doxycycline, unless you line your stomach before ingestion, so keep that in mind.....................Sarah

Completed Stratton/Wheldon regime for aggressive secondary progressive MS in June 2007, after four years, three of which intermittent.   Still improving bit by bit and no relapses since finishing treatment.

I don't seem to have any problems with doxycycline.  I'm currently taking vitamin D as I was low a year and a half ago.  I eat with my meds so they are absorbed properly.  I am currently taking prednisone (since last February).  I started at 20 mg but at 17 mg the pain started coming back.  The rheumatologist wanted me reducing but at 7 mg, I was in extreme pain again in my arms and hands.  Two weeks ago I increased to 10 mg and today to 12 mg.  Will the prednisone impact the protocol?  How should I handle the pred once I'm on the protocol antibiotics?

Thank you,

Trish

Trish, there are many people on this site with MS and many take prednisolone: you can take both together with no worries.  Hopefully, you will find after a while that you can reduce the prednisolone bit by bit once more........................Sarah

Thank you all so much for answering my questions! Is there any other tests I should request to prove I have this? My IGG level was flagged high and I know I have it but for research sake is there anything I can do to help research?

It looks like there’s a test for load count. What would I request from my doctor? Thank you Trish
