Advice

Hi folks

I need some advice and hope that y'all can help me out. I did my last Flagyl pulse  in Jan and actually did not complete it fully because of diarrhea. I then recently decided to try Tini based on folks here recommending it because it has less of an impact on GI stuff. I took 2 tabs of 500mg Tini on Friday. Saturday morning I woke up feeling like a truck ran me over. I had major die-off sx that weekend and then Monday I ate some bad food and had really bad diarrhea all over again. This is despite taking 2g of Charcoal on Sunday and Monday. I've been feeling quite poorly after that - actually had quite a few of my FMS sx come back on Tues & Wed. Today was a bit better.

I'm wondering why I had such a strong reaction to such a small amount of Tini?

Should I complete the rest of the Tini pulse this weekend? or

Should I go back to Flagyl? Or

Should I wait and do another pulse next month?

Thanks,

I really appreciate any input you can provide.

Wow, sounds like you've been through the wringer. There are just going to be times when one pulse kills way more of the cpn than other times. The good news is, yes, something is certainly being stomped on by the abx. (Now, hopefully, someone will stop by and give you all the scientific reasons this occurs, apoptosis, higher saturation of the meds in your bloodstream, etc, etc.)

I vote for giving your poor body a bit of a rest. You don't have to wait a month to pulse; you can always start another one when you feel recovered, maybe in ten days.  There's no need to go full throttle at the beginning.  A three day pulse is better than no pulse at all.  Start slow and ease into it.

You sound like you really need charcoal, chlorella, lot of water and antioxidants, to help push the crud from your system as soon as possible.

As Mac says, you have been through it, so just leave pulsing until you feel  able, probably keep with the tini because it is definitely gentler on your GI tract and keep away from bad food!......................Sarah

Thanks. It's helpful to know that there is variability in the impact of pulses at different times. I'm going to hold off on pulsing for a couple of weeks and let my body recover. I am taking supps and antioxidants. Haven't found charcoal to be particularly effective as a mopper though.
Diagnosed with FMS 2003. Currently doing CAP (started 12/1/10), Doxi 100 mg BID, Azithro 250 mg 3x week, last Flagyl pulse 1/23/11 for 5 2 days. 1st Tini pulse (2 tabs 500 mg) on 4/8/11. Following Perfect Health Diet as much as i can.

Neither did I, plus it weighted me down.  I found chlorella much better, plus I could take it at anytime....................Sarah

Thanks Sarah, am gonna try that instead. Appreciate the input.

You might want to try Garden of Life Primal Defense Ultra--its a very strong probiotic. Also, lots of C can help clear out toxins. Also had good luck with Candex for intestinal yeast. Are you taking any probiotics? Licorice tea can help soothe the mucus membranes in the intestines. Raven

Feeling 98% well-going for 100. Very low test for Cpn. CAP since 8-05 for Cpn/Mycoplasma P.,Lyme, Bartonella, Mold exposure,NAC,BHRT, MethyB12 FIR Sauna. 1-18-11 begin new treatment plan with naturopath

It also could be that the Tini (and/or Flagyl)  is hitting bacteria in your colon.  I have colon issues off and on  and have done Vitamin C flushes after pulsing which helped me tremendously.

Another Garden of Life product that is great for getting out toxins and adding bulk to the stool is Detoxifiber.

If I were you, since you have diarrhea, I'd wait on finishing the pulse -- why be more miserable?

Thanks a lot everyone for the support and advice. Really really appreciate it.

One of the mistakes I made with starting CAP was not being consistent with the probiotics. And yes, I probably have some kind of infection which the pulsing hits. At this point, the diarrhea is okay but if it happens again next time, I will get tested to see if there is some kind of infection.

For probiotics, I am taking home-made goat milk kefir and Jarrow probiotics. Those have been somewhat helpful.  Are the Garden of Life Probiotics better than Jarrows?

I have read about vit c. flushes being helpful- I just don't understand how to do them. I'd appreciate any link that you can provide.

For  chlorella, how much should one take?

Probiotics are VERY important, barefootrunner.... I made that mistake and I am in my 4th year of CAP now having minimal bacteria in my gut and having to work on it as well as yeast issues.  It's more difficult trying to rebuild flora than maintaining it (IMO).    Please (everyone) take your probiotics since you haven't been on CAP that long! My personal opinion on the probiotics is to be sure and read the labels and compare... (some have ingredients that "I" personally can't take) Jarrow products are good, as well as the Garden of Life.  Kefit is great, as is goat milk.  One just has to be constant and consistent (which I wasn't either :(

And, as for the Vit C flushes, they are easy... you just have to plan a day for them. (This is listed under the "Getting Started" tab, "Reactions and Remedies".    Here is a link, but basically you take 2 tsp of Buffered Vit C in 4 oz of water every 15 minutes until you flush.  It adds needed vit c to your body, cleans out the colon and rids you of the toxins.  It's really not as bad as it may sound....

Vitamin C Flush

1-2 grams (1-2 tsp) powdered buffered Vit C. every 15 minutes in 8oz H2O until bowel evacuation occurs.

Endotoxin soaks up Vitamin C in large amounts. This is a strategy for more acute effects, e.g. third day of Flagyl pulse.

Since it causes bowel evacuation and clearance, should be used before medications and eating.

Buffered C contains minerals which interfere with antibiotic absorption, so wait two hours

There are quite a few who use Chorella here -- I've taken - 6 - 250 mg capsules once or twice a day. Perhaps Sarah, or some of the others have input on how much they use.

Tini or Flagyl?   I guess which every you prefer.  I, personally, never did Flagyl.... Tini was bad enough in the begininning, now I can take it and have minimal reactions.

Twelve tablets a day or more: as many as you like!  They are the same size as the capsules but I get them from here.....................Sarah

I personally found a great product that works for me, called VSL #3.  Found out about in a support group for others on long term antibiotic therapy. It has 450 billion bacteria per sachet.  Apparently it is used by doctor's for patients with bowel diseases, dysbiosis, Chrohn's (spelling?). Made in the U.S. and can be ordered online or by phone.  They will sell directly without a doctor's prescription but they advise to use under a doctor's supervision. I asked my doctor about it and she said it's difficult to over-do probiotics; only that she recommends people ramping up slowly so as to get accustomed (like everything else!).

I use two packets of the powder, daily, unsweetened, mixed into yogurt or applesauce, away from my antibiotics. Saves me having to swallow another handful of pills ever day in order to get a decent daily count of the good bacteria.  It is a godsend for me.  You can always ask your doctor what they think about this as an option for you.  Good Luck!!

Started Wheldon CAP Nov 2010 for interstitial cystitis suspected to be caused by Cpn. Now on all supplements, Doxy 100 mg 2/day, Azithromycin 250 mg M,W,F, one complete Flagyl pulse completed.

Thanks all. I dont think I have felt this bad since I started the CAP. The whole week has been nothing but a fibro attack. I really appreciate all the support and the time y'all put in for me.

I've ordered the buffered vit c for doing a flush and am now waiting it out.

Re the diarrhea, I am doing fine now. If it comes back, I am going to get tested and see what is going on. In the meantime, I'm taking probiotics and kefir regularly.
