I’ve really struggled this year and felt thee cap hadn’t simply stopped working, but, was worsening my condition. It turns out that sacidophilus makes me exhausted and weak, just as NAC affects me!

i ran out of my usual probiotic before my last pulse andd felt that the cause of a uti. But the sample didn’t grow anything, although I was very uncomfortable. I bought acidophilus, because i didn’t need to mail order  it and i thought i was desperate!

MS symptoms from 2001, DX RRMS in 2008, following, a change of hospital who sent me for an MRI, precipitated by some sight loss. Took Interferons, on and off. Prescribed  chemo infusions to slow pro

Hi!

I am certainly a great believer that my illness is closely related to my gut (and not just my ongoing pregnancy). I think that our gut bacteria have a big say in how we are.

Just like many others here, I take probiotics as often as I can. I am now starting to run low on my current probiotic (Dr Stephen Langer's). I looked at the ones that Sarah is recommending. Health monthly do that same product at a better price than Amazon. I have just preordered some (they are currently out of stock but they don't take long)

Hi SG,

i’ve been too scared to take them yet!  But have been eating yoghurt and making sauerkraut, which I love! But want to take a real probiotic which, i’m sure, will be better, so please let us know how it is, for you!

also, this is curiosity, i haven’t been pregnant, hasn’t MS subsided, temporarilly?

The probiotics that I'd ordered had been out of stock and I'd been waiting and waiting. My regular probiotic that I'd been using for over 12 months (Dr Steven Langer's) finally ran out the day before yesterday. Luckily for me, my new probiotic arrived yesterday in the post. These are the ones that Sarah recommends. I have already taken some and I'm not dead yet.

Janet, taking probiotic capsules is really no big deal. The big deal comes if your gut gets overrun by other infections.

Darren, I still have a large amount left in a tub of prebiotics. I stopped using them in the end because I found that they made me very bloated and gassy. But thanks for the tip anyway.

Hi G

maybe you should start taking prebiotics also as if you are not getting the benefit of probiotics then maybe your gut enviromen isn’t ideal to handle the probiotics and prebiotics will help

only a thought

Cheers

Jane, you might find this sheet from the sheet from the UCLA Department of Medicine interesting......(edit-Damn it: it hasn''t posted!  I'll find it again later.)................Sarah

Completed Stratton/Wheldon regime for aggressive secondary progressive MS in June 2007, after four years, three of which intermittent.   Still improving bit by bit and no relapses since finishing treatment.

I need to read this more thoroughly, but, at a first read through, it looks so interesting! Especially as, i think, they’ve been saying that pathogens exacerbating MS, and so much more, can be found in the gut! Are these henchmen?

thanks Sarah
