A Small Sign

I haven't had much time to post here lately. I have been busy settling my mother's estate and working. Two days after she died, I came down with another whopping respiratory infection. Just got over one in October. I am still coughing up gunk a month later. I was pretty depressed but then started journaling in the mornings. I even journal in the sauna--kind of hard when you get sweaty to hold onto the pen, though. I am starting to feel better emotionally and feel the benefits of journaling.

I have been taking Lauricidin since the beginning of December. I took extra when I got sick and then noticed a very small improvement, the warts I had on my finger began to disappear. There were three of them and now there is only one that I can barely see. So I know the monolaurin is killing viruses. I also found a paper on the synergistic effect of combining monolaurin with oregano oil--so I have some on order.

My energy level tanked when I got sick. But I am still able to keep working and it will return I am certain. I am also taking mistletoe extract to help my NK cells.

I need to do another pulse but I will wait until mid week so the last days fall on the weekend. Last August I did a pulse every 9 days and had some noticeable improvements. I don't know if you recall but I think I was reinfected with Cpn in June (my husband came home with a really nasty respiratory infection) and my subsequent IGA levels jumped up.

Someday I hope they find a weakness in this bug that will do it in quickly and for good. At this point I feel like Sisyphus!

Raven, It's nice to see you back on cpn ,as we missed you.  I know you have been through a lot these last couple of months and taking some time for yourself is helpful to heal.

It sounds like the lauricidin is doing a amazing job in other areas of improvement. You go girl.

It is hard to lose a parent, and deal with all the emotinal and financial issues and problems.  Sorry you have had to do it.

After responding to several posts with the suggestions of more, I find that here I am again.  I just can't stop myself!  (I really hate to hear that - self-control is what we're about - right?)

Anyway, what drifted into my mind, unbidden, is this: maybe it's time for more.  When Amoxicillin was added, it hit me fairly hard and I was already on Rifampin (have been since the beginning in 2004, at 600 mg a day).  At least you could consider adding Rifampin.

Thanks Bonnie and Rica, I will talk to my doctor again at the end of Feb and ask him about clobbering this thing.I have been on Rifampin at one time during treatment for about 5 months. I think it was in '07. Didn't notice much of an increase in misery back then. I may try Amoxycillan.I haven't taken it during the CAP because I had a severe reaction to it in the '90s--swelling, severe joint pain. Thought I had suddenly become allergic (after taking it for yrs with no effect)but I think it must have been a reaction to it's killing effect on Cpn EBs.

Perhaps I need to change around the abx at this time. I will see what he says. It would be great if we could use something that doesn't create resistance--this is the question in my mind. Wondering if Cpn has developed some kind of resistance to what I take. It is not supposed to as I have been very faithful about sticking to the CAP but a lot is unknown about this bug.

I got some oregano oil today and will take it and see what happens. I took some OSR this morning as I am tired of fighting this cough and congestion. Taking OSR was the tipping point in Oct. for finally ditching the chest infection. I have been reluctant to take it as I think the sulphur affects my nerves. Anyway, can't hurt for a week or so. Amazing the effect it has on my mental alertness. My typing becomes faster and more accurate. Energy levels increase. But I find it is a 2 edged sword--increased yeast problems because of the sulphur (need to remember to take molybdenum) and I think it interferes with B12 methylation hence the nerve problems. If anyone else has had these problems, let me know.

Sorry, mistakenly posted to the wrong blog.  See my  blog for the posting.

best, John

RRMS/EDSS was 4.5, 5, 6, 6.5, 6.9999, 6.5 on Wheldon/Stratton Protocol beginning 04/12/2006
nac 4x600 mg/day
doxycycline 2x100mg/day
azithromycin 3x250mg/day MWF
metronidazole 3x400mg/day then 3x500mg/day

Interesting about the Amoxicillin.  That is what happened to me last May when I went on the five abx protocol...after supposedly not reacting anymore and stopping everything in Jan,09.  I am still paying for THAT lapse in judgement.

So it appears that you could add both - one at a time, though.  We know how those things can go.

It's truly amazing what one dose of OSR does to my energy levels. Too bad it has side effects. Raven

Hi Raven, Glad that you are feeling better.

Emotional challenges can depress the immune system and your recent loss certainly could have tipped the balance and left you open to some pathogens.

Just googled and found this link to OSR; https://www.ctiscience.com/CTIScience/

https://www.ctiscience.com/CTIScience/pdf/osr1-package-insert-0609.pdf

https://www.ctiscience.com/CTIScience/pdf/osr1-safety-and-pharmacokinetics-information.pdf

What are the unpleasant side effects of it that you are talking about?  Louise

The downside of OSR for me is that it encourages yeast. Yeast loves sulfur. Dr. P. suggests taking molybdenum as a counter agent for this. The other thing I noticed is increased peripheral neuropathy. I found something about it interfering with the methylation of B12--can't recall where I saw it. So I can take it for a week and then I back off. Could be there is some kind of die off happening--I just don't know.

But I sure do love the energy I get from it and the mental alertness. As you may have read, OSR raises glutathione levels. Glutathione is a powerful antioxidant. After the first dose of OSR, my lungs and sinuses showed major improvements--clearing up almost overnight. Same thing happened when I was sick last Oct. I wish I could take it all the time.

Raven, I have not had any problem with yeast or natural supplements which contain sulfur compound that I have added to support the sulfation detox cycle. My glutathione tested well last spring when my methylation detox tested week so I am using supplements for both of these detox cycles.  I do understand that some folks have some challenges with sulfur from diet and supplements but I wonder is that a temporary or long term situation as you understand it.

So far, I have not had any URI's since Christmas time 2008.   I have looked at the OSR and wonder if it would be helpful for me.  I have worked the Lauricidin up to 2 - 3 scoops per day after my last blood draw.   The Ursodiol that I requested and finally was written Rx has had a dramatically favorable effect on my Liver enzymes after only 10 days of taking it prior to the test, thanks for sharing that information here.  I tried last Sept and was refused but it is good to know that my practitioner can shift his position on adjuncts. I also wonder if I have not experience my die off symptoms from the Lauricidin as I have also been taking Cholystramine at bedtime as I worked it up so may have absorbed fatty endotoxins and fatty porphyrins that I believe give me the worst of my die off experiences.

Please post more on your OSR experience and if you can tolerate taking it longer this time.   Louise

Louise, glad you haven't had a problem with sulfur. My Yasko genetic tests told me to avoid it so there it is. Sometimes I feel we have so many balls in the air to juggle, it can get confusing.

There was an article in the LA Times on Monday about OSR. The title had something about "industrial chemical used to treat autism"

http://www.latimes.com/features/health/la-he-autism-chemical1-2010feb01,0,1654619.story

The slant is decidedly negative. Most of it comes from an article in the Chicago Tribune. There is a small group of people trying to discredit the inventor Boyd Haley. Time will tell.

BTW, I think Dr. Cannell from the vitaminDcouncil has it right about D deficiency and  autism. Mercury is probably a trigger.
