2g of Tinidazole for possible Giardia - Not much of an effect

I got the Dr. to write me for a one dose 2g (500mg x 4). After insurance it costs me $29. Those of you that Pulse Tini does it cost a fortune?

I was expecting the worse and really could hardly tell I had taken anything at all. I took it at 9am and slipped up and had a beer about 7pm. Forgot I wasn't supposed to have alcohol. My sleep was a bit disturbed but other than that no GI issues. No problems....

Does this tell anyone if I might have a CPN or Lyme load? Would I have had a bigger reaction?

Bio, were you taking Tini along with doxy and Azith (did you ever go back on the protocol)? or did you just take the Tini by itself?

Have you ever really had any type of testing done (Lyme, Viruses or CPN?) or are your pathogens speculative?  I'd have to go back and read your posts to remember if you had a reaction to the "NAC test".

The Tini isn't cheap, as we don't have generic here in the US, but my doctor writes my script for a 90 day supply which costs me about $70 through insurance and  lasts quite some time ;).

I think it would be wonderful  if you didn't have CPN......

Hello bio, 2 grams are nothing for cpn or lyme, so I think you cannot judge anything from this dose. Moreover reactions usually appear later, not immediately. For cpn or lyme it is supposed to take longer treatment and together with other abx. The price for tinidazole is unbelievably high, I have my tini from Russia and it cost far less than 1 dollar per box with 4 tablets of 500mg. Many folks buy from here http://www.pharmacy1010.com/product_page.asp?id=472. It is not so cheap but still cheaper thank yours. Good luck with further treatment

Stratton/Wheldon protocol 02/2006 - 10/11 for CFS and many problems 30 years

I need to add that the last two mornings after taking I've suffered from some morning anxiety. Manageable but very unpleasant. Also the first night I after the dose I had anight sweat. Don't know if that indicates anything.

Jeanneroz - I've been hesitant to start that diagnositic path especially since it's not an exact science. I spoke to my Dr. about using the Geneva labs for a test and he looked very puzzled (Like why wouldn't the regular labs be fine?). I don't think I can make much progress there unless I find more of a take charge Dr.  I'm in the US also and not sure why it costs so much.

I did just get a test for celiac as I still believe my problem is mostly in the gut. If I can address that, I believe, life would be much better.

Lala, thanks for the link. That is much cheaper.

Bio, I guess if you have any pathogens, tests can confirm them, and yes we know CPN and Lyme can be tricky.

I tested high postive (IGg and IGm) for CPN as well as HHV-6 and EBV (but I tested postived for the viruses about 10 years ago).  It does seem,  in reading older posts, many others here (who have the CFIDS/FM diagnosis) do seem to test positive for some types of pathogens.  In reality if you do, in fact, have either CPN or Lyme this protocol does work on both.

It doesn't appear you are consistent in keeping with any one particular regimen, or staying the course with this procotol for any length of time.  Just an observation, not meaning to be insulting. So, if I were you my inquiring mind would be wanting to know..... but then, hey, that's just me :)

Most of us here believe the only way to treat is to stay the course (doxy/azith/flagyl (or Tini) and supp's but additionally have learned about other helpful adjuncts/treatments in addition to the CAP.

Just had a fairly toxic movement. Had to be the Tini. Took a little over 48 hours.

JeanneRoz - I stayed on the Doxy and Zith for about 2 months. I stopped because I didn't think my liver was keeping up. I had to take a lot of liver support supplements...Never did pulse the Tini. I don't think I feel comfortable doing it without a LLMD's guidance. I'm very tired and don't have as much energy for the fight as I used to. I need a Dr.
